Braun Series 3 Vs Series 5 Vs Series 7 - Which is Best for You?

By Edited Aug 27, 2016 0 0

Comparing the Braun 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series Shavers

The following brief & objective account aims to make immediately clear what the differences  (and similarities) are amongst the Braun shavers -- Series 3 Vs Series 5 Vs Series 7 -- so you can easily identify what features & specifications appeal to you (and are associated with which range of Braun shavers) and basically what shaver you want to be looking at buying. We will compare the 'fitted technology', 'shaving performance & features', 'battery details', 'practical specifications', 'personalization' and general information -- so you gain a clear overall view of each series/range of Braun shavers.

The Series 3 Braun Electric Shavers: 340S, 350cc, 380s, 390cc

This range of shavers is largely considered the 'basic' yet high performing models -- it utilises the fundamental three triple action free float & action systems that are essentially for a skin close yet entirely comfortable shave (where all the cutting elements have been optimized with sensofoil). They each offer the precision long hair tool too -- allowing you to detail facial hair (e.g. side burns, mustache etc.) All the shavers are wet & dry shavers but the 340s & 380s can also be used in conjunction with shaving foam & gel.

Battery Details: 45 Mins Run Time | 1 Hr Charge | LED Indicator (generally 3 stage)

Shaving Features: Contour Adaptive Head | Triple Free Float, Cutting System | Long Hair

Practical Specifications: Wet & Dry | Washable | Quick shave.

The 390cc comes with the clean & renew system (more details below).

Note: the 340s, 350cc, 380s, 390cc all offer slightly different specs/colours to one another -- but they generally all share the same 'jist' of features above.

The Series 5 Braun Shavers: 550cc, 590cc

The next advancement/upgrade is with the 5 series shavers, which capture most of what the 3 series shavers are about but have made slight improvements on the way. Where firstly they have updated the cutting elements from sensofoil to optifoil ( a hypoallergenic material -- that makes it more comfortable on the skin & getting yet still an even closer shave). Improvements also have been made to the contour & flexing feature, so they can help optimize shaving further by reaching the 'hard to get to areas' easier.

Like the 390cc, there is a clean & renew system that basically lubricates (with a scent of lemon), cleans (with an alcohol solution -- killing 99.999% of germs) and charges your shaver -- so it is like new with every shave (the systems differ slightly with various shavers e.g. the 590cc comes with fast clean and the 550cc doesn't offer such a feature).  There are other subtle differences between the 5 series and 3 series too such as finish and LED detail in display -- basically it offers an improved shaving experience and performance (as you would expect since they are more expensive than the 3 series).

Battery Details: 45 Mins Run Time | 1 Hr Charge | LED Indicator (generally 4 stage)

Shaving Features: Contour Adaptive & Pivot Head | Triple Cutting System | Long Hair

Practical Specifications: Wet & Dry | Washable | Quick Shave

Foil & Hygiene Indicators.

Note: the 550cc and 590cc offer slightly different aspects (with the latter being more advanced).

The Series 7 Braun Electric Shavers: 720s, 760cc, 790cc, 799cc

The most advanced set of shavers (with the 799cc essentially being the 'best of the best') from Braun which offer you an exceptional shave -- with supreme closeness & minimal irritation. Again, the 7 Series builds from the 5 series (as that did with the 3 series) making further improvements and adding additional features. The most significant factor being the intelligent pulsonic technology that performs 10,000 mini-vibrations to essentially provide a more efficient shave (i.e more hairs are cut with less strokes) & in turn faster shave. All the cutting elements have been highly optimized to provide a completely uniform shave. There are also personalization shaving aspects -- to gain a more optimal shave for different facial areas (extra sensitive, normal, intensive).

Battery Details: 50 Mins Run Time | 1 Hr Charge | LED Battery & Hygiene Indicator (generally 6 stage) w/ fast clean & active drying aspects.

Shaving Features: Contour Adaptive & Pivot Head | Triple Cutting System | Long Hair

Practical Specifications: Wet & Dry | Washable | Quick Shave

Foil Indicator -- detailing when the shaver heads need replacing (usually once a year).

Note: again, the seven series shavers differ from one another.

Which Series Will You Go For?

All the shavers are produced from Braun are pretty impressive but the three models I have featured above -- represent to me the best of each series, the 390cc, 590cc & 790cc -- both in terms of shaving performance/experience but most importantly in terms of value. In general, just bear in mind the 'general rule' each series improves upon the last in terms of shaving quality & practicality.

Also, if you have absolutely ANY questions (about any aspect), general issues/concerns or remarks regarding either the comparison article of the Series 3 Vs Series 5 Vs Series 7 or about any of the shavers within any of the series (incl. the models featured above) then please do not hesitate to make them in the comments section that you will find just below the fold and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
