Several years ago, the "it" Christmas gift was a new juicer.  After all, medical science had confirmed that drinking juices from various vegetables and fruits would inevitably lead to a healthier (and longer) life so everyone had to have one.  Unfortunately, the juicers from that time had serious designs defects and were, frankly, a real pain to operate properly (not to mention clean).  That was then; modern juicers are nothing like their predecessors of the past.  For a modern and beautiful looking juicer, you may want to consider the Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable Speed Juice Extractor. This is a beautiful stainless steel juicer that has all the features that you want that makes great juice. It is also a pretty good price for the machine.

The Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable Speed Juicer Extractor has a stainless steel exterior that looks great. This juicer has five speeds to do the best job for each type of job you toss its way. It has a 900 watt motor with the power to have it going from about 6500 rpms to 12500 rpms for maximum extraction. It has a three inch circular feed tube that makes it easy to add fruits and vegetables. It also has a backlit control panel, a juice jug, and a froth separator. The parts are dishwasher safe, it has a detachable spout for easy cleaning, and a specialized cleaning brush. This unit measures 16 4/5 inches by 15½ inches by 10¼ inches. What Is A Juice Extractor

If you have decided to get into the wonderful world of consuming fresh juices, or perhaps you have decided that your family needs to put down the sodas and make better choices when it comes to what they drink, you have no doubt run across the term “juice extractor.” So what precisely is a juice extractor?

Juice extractors are machines that run on electricity and are manufacturer by many of the world’s leading electronic appliance makers. Popular brands include Breville, Kenwood, Samson, Green Star, and Omega, just to name a few. In a nutshell, juice extractors are designed to enable you to extract the juice from various fruits and vegetables. While it is likely that you grew up in a household that had a very basic type of juicer. You know, the kind where you sliced a piece of fruit in half and then crammed it down onto a pointy-like device and twisted, causing some of the juice to run down into a compartment. However, if you recall, those primitive juicers were very inefficient, sometimes leaving as much as half of the juice in the fruit. Moreover, it took a lot of time to obtain fresh juice that way. Many times, even those individuals who were determined to drink more fresh juice were turned off by just how difficult it was to gather even a glass full. Furthermore, those manual-type juicers were unable to juice leafy vegetables or other hard vegetables like carrot and celery. Something had to give. And it did, eventually.

Juice extractors are now specially design to remove the juice from citrus as well as vegetables, providing you with a variety of fresh juice options. In fact, you can now use a juice extractor to make fresh juice from oranges, apples and grapes, just as easily as you can from carrots, barley grass and wheatgrass. All of these have been shown to have many positive health effects if consumed on a regular basis.

There are basically three types of juice extractors: centrifugal juicers, masticating juicers and hydraulic press juicers. The way centrifugal juices work is that the stainless steel cutter shred the fruits and vegetables into very small pieces. These pieces are then spun very quickly in a basket using centripetal forces to get the juice out of the pulp. Because this type of juice extractor causes oxidation (which is a leading cause of the nutrients degrading over time), it is advisable to drink the juice from a centrifugal juice right away.

The other type of juice extractor is the masticating juicer. As the name implies, these juicers sort of chew up the fruits and vegetables using much lowers speeds which, as a result, produces less oxidation and permits more nutrients to be released.

A final type of juice extractor is the Hydraulic Press Juicers. One type of hydraulic press juice is the Norwalk Juicer. Generally speaking, this machine grates and cuts the fruits and vegetables, with the resulting mass being extracted into a linen bag. The linen bag is the submitted to a hydraulic press which puts the bag under extreme down force pressure and results in much more juice being extracted from the food. While they produce really quality juice with little oxidation and the highest levels of nutrients, they are also the most expensive type of juice extractors on the market today.
