Burt's Bees Is Smooth Lip Tint
I have always been a connoisseur of makeup, especially lipgloss and lipstick in just about every possible tint, shine and color. I have a huge collection of colors and brands that might make the average person wonder if I moonlight as a makeup artist. The other day, I was in my local drug store, browsing for something new and I came across Bert's Bees tinted lip balm. Coincidentally, I happened to be looking for something light to wear on my lips to keep them from drying out while adding a touch of color. I didn't want any heavy or sticky lipstick (believe me, I have plenty of those already). I had noticed that there were five or six different colors to choose from. I have always been in the market for a nice peachy color, especially for the summertime. When I saw Bert's Bees Lip Balm in Tiger Lily, I picked it up to take a look. Then, I put it down.
The seven dollar price tag turned me off and intimidated me. Most tinted lip balms can be purchased for a mere two or three dollars, so why would I pay so much money for this tinted lip balm?
Burt's Bees Lip Balm: Is It Worth The Price?
I was feeling generous that day, so I picked it up again and tried to envision what the actual color would be. The peachy shade on the outside of the box was perfect, but as we all know, it almost never looks the same on our lips as it does on the package. Nonetheless, I decided to purchase Burt's Bees lip balm. And now, I am so glad I did.
For one, the packaging is a little bit deceptive. Because the packaging is oversized, I expected it to be a jumbo stick of lip balm. In reality, you open up the two halves of the cylindrical package and find a regular sized tube of lip balm, not unlike a Chapstick. I opened up the lip balm, and applied some. I could not believe how smooth and silky it felt! I don't think I can recall having anything glide onto my lips as easily as Burt's Bees did.
I went to take a look at the results in a mirror. I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice, sheer peach color just as I had envisioned. It seems to have just the right amount of density and sheerness to provide good color coverage without being too much. The Chapstick also smells delicious. However, there is no taste to it. I say again: there is no taste to Burt's Bees Lip Balm. I had read a review on Burt's Bees lip balm online saying that it tastes “delicious”. That is how I knew that the review was phony; there is no taste or flavor to this product.
Personally, I prefer flavored lip balms but I can see why Burt's Bees may have elected to not flavor this product. Like most things, everyone has different tastes and what may taste great to some may be nauseating to others. If you do decide to purchase this product, you will probably appreciate this smoothness of the application, in addition to the nice color. I am so happy with this lip balm that I plan to purchase a couple of different colors to see which will look best on me. The Tiger Lily color is one of the lightest of the entire collection, and will probably look even better once I get a tan.
My final conclusion: this is a great product that glides on smoothly, looks great and is worth the extra cost. Highly recommended!
