Business Phone - Getting a Line for Your Business

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

A business phone is important for any business, regardless of the size. Even if you are self-employed and working at home, you should still get a line to separate your personal phone from your business line. There are several ways to go about this, and they all come with their unique advantages. Here are some of those options to keep in mind.

Landlines are the most basic forms of business phones, and they are often the most reliable. You can get multiple phone numbers in one home or office, and most companies will not charge much for a second phone number a month. You may have to pay a large sum of money to get the second account setup, but after that, the costs of your secondary landline will be minimal at best.

Internet Phones

Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a form of technology that could allow you to talk on the phone directly through the internet. Rather than working through a standard phone line, a VOIP business phone will work through an Ethernet cord connected to your modem. VOIP phones are usually cheaper than landlines, but they are not always as reliable. If you live in an area with solid internet connections, you should enjoy having this as your business line.

Cell Phones

You can add a line on your cell phone plan that is strictly meant for business. This does prevent you from separating yourself from the office as much, but it still gives you a different number to tell people who want to contact you. If you work on the go, this may be the best option for you because it allows you to remain in contact even when you are away. It will just cost you more money than other business phones in the end.

Ultimately you will have to choose what you want to use for your business phone. This just gives you an idea of some of the venues you should look into. Assess your options and your budget to make the best decision possible.
