Buying Car Insurance Tips

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Most people begin their search for the best and/or cheapest car insurance on the internet. Each company has a website and you can fill in the information requested for each company. Keep the information the same or you will be comparing "apples with oranges." Then decide what coverage is needed and fill in the questions asked. This will generate a quote which can be compared to quotes received from other insurance company websites.

The cheapest quote could be the one to take, unless the company is not in good financial condition. If the company has invested in failing financial instruments, that is not the company for you. A little research will provide the answers. If you find the company is hard to contact and does not respond promptly to queries, look elsewhere for coverage.

Depending on the area that you live in you will find that there are many different rates on insurance. Finding a reputable insurance agent in your own area is key if you want to find the best deals. If you live in vancouver for example you can visit Surrey Car Insurance. They offer some of the best deals and they have an Autoplan open late. Finding an insurance agency that is open after the regular 9-5 hours can really be a great convienence.

A new car needs collision (crash) coverage and comprehensive (fire and theft). It is required by the finance company, if the car is not paid for in cash. Otherwise, it is your decision how much of a deductible (when you share the burden of the claim with the company) is best. There is no standard amount but many people take a $500 deductible for collision and another $500 deductible for comprehensive coverage. This means that you pay the first $500 dollars of a claim.

An older car does not need to carry any collision or comprehensive coverage. The amount that is required will exceed any claim placed; it is a waste of money. An older car needs coverage for road service, and injuries and property damage to others. In this category, close to full coverage is a good idea. Should something happen, your home can be at risk in a lawsuit, if insufficient bodily injury coverage is not taken.

There are some tips for young drivers. Maintain good grades and drive only to and from school. In school, drivers education should be taken. Insurance company statistics show these types of drivers put in less claims. The less likelihood of putting in a claim. lowers the premium charged.
