Buying Clothes for Christmas
Christmas shopping is so much fun, especially when you know exactly what you want to get everyone on your Christmas list and yet buying clothes for Christmas is both terrifying and a fantastic idea. People love clothes but many people don't like shopping for them. Buying clothes for Christmas is a great way to give those people what they want. However, on your end it can be a little daunting. Don't let buying clothes for Christmas scare you away from getting a wonderful gift. Here are three tips regarding the trouble areas of buying clothes for Christmas.
Buying Clothes for Christmas Tip 1: The Right Size
Fit is the probably hardest part about buying clothes for Christmas for someone else. It's hard enough to find the right fit for yourself, right? Well, to be honest, fit isn't that difficult. There are two options for finding the right fit for someone else. Your first option is to take the recipient shopping with you. You can do this covertly by suggesting a shopping trip and looking at what he/she picks up (sizes, style and color) or you can be open about the fact you're buying clothes for Christmas and either ask the size or have the recipient be there with you to try on each item of clothing.
Your second option for finding the correct size would be to just buy what you think is closest and get a gift receipt so he/she can return the item if the size (or fit) isn't just right. The recipient should understand if you happen to buy the wrong size. You put forth the effort (and put down the cash) for the gift already, if something doesn't fit, the recipient can return it and get the right size.
Buying Clothes for Christmas Tip 2: The Right Color
Colors of the clothes you buy are accents. Some colors are flattering on some people while other colors will wash them out. Finding the right color when buying clothes for Christmas isn't very difficult, in fact, there are a few options to keep you in the safe zone.
Your first option will be to study what the recipient wears already. Perhaps you notice a trend of blues or the recipient loves a red sweater and wears it constantly. When buying clothes for Christmas you're pretty safe to buy colors the recipient already has. To be even safer you can buy a slightly different variation within that color's family.
Your second option would be to ask the recipients favorite color in clothing and your third option will be to take the recipient shopping with you. These are two ways that will guarantee you get the right color but it might ruin the surprise.
Buying Clothes for Christmas Tip 3: The Right Style
There are millions of styles-and that's just in the jean section-plus all the different fashions (like "preppy," "gothic," etc.). However, there are ways to buy the right style of clothing when you're buying clothes for Christmas. Your first option is like the other two: take the recipient with you and/or ask. Your other option is to try and see what style the recipient wears. A pattern may be difficult to discern if you have an eccentric dresser who wears all sorts of styles (however, then you'll have an easier time choosing a style because the recipient is showing that he/she doesn't care much about a particular fashion).
When buying clothes for Christmas you really have to remember that it's mostly the thought that counts. Don't be offended if the recipient wants to return something because it doesn't fit right or isn't the right style. Always include a gift receipt so if such an occasion arises the recipient can go choose something else that he/she likes and will use.
