Should I Buy a CoolTec CT5cc or CT2cc?
Are you interested in getting a Braun cooltec shaver -- and in particular the CT5cc and CT2cc models -- but you are unsure of the differences between them (& ultimately which one is better suited for you)? If so, you have come to the right comparison guide: CT5cc Vs CT2cc -- where we will perform a breakdown feature by feature analysis, highlighting their differences (as well as their similarities) amongst specifications so you will know exactly what each model is offering you and in turn which model provides the best value (with respect to its price tag).
Important Note: as you may have already found, there aren't that many drastic differences between the two -- simply that the CT5cc is an update (mainly cosmetically & in terms of compatibility) to the CT2cc. Hence, to give you a quick answer (w/o going into the details below): I'd say you (holding the price of the two) go for the Braun Cooltec CT5cc shaver.
CT2cc: Active Cooling Technology | Flexible free float Elements | Contour Adapt
CT5cc: Active Cooling Technology | Flexible free float Elements | Contour Adapt
Completely unique to the cooltec shavers is their active cooling technology (making it the first electric shaver to put irritation on ice). It is basically an optional installed electro-ceramic freshening component to cool down your skin during a shave -- with the effect ultimately to minimize discomfort and irritation on the skin. For further added comfort the cutting blades are able to completely flex in-line with your facial contours to get both very short & long hairs in the same stroke -- to provide a uniform and efficient shave.

Shaving Features & Performance
CT2cc: Triple Action Cutting | Optimized (sensoblade) | Middle Trimmer
CT5cc: Triple Action Cutting | Optimized (sensoblade)| Middle Trimmer
The shavers use a 3x cutting action (three separate foil blades) with two twin cutting elements contouring to your face to provide a skin close shave whilst the middle trimmer acts to lift flat lying hair and then cuts it. Each has been optimized to capture hair growing in various avenues to again provide a more effective shave.
The Braun CoolTec CT2S
CT2cc: Fully Washable | Charging Station | Wet & Dry Shave
CT5cc: Fully Washable, Fast Clean | Charging Station | Wet & Dry Shave
Both the shavers are quick & easy to clean, simply rinse them under a running tap and use the cleaning brush provided to get any 'leftover & trapped hair'. The CT5cc comes with a fast clean action button which automatically cleans the shaver within a 25 second period. They also both come with a charging station -- which acts as a holster to re-lubricate and clean the shaving device as well. They can be used in the shower, however it is advised that you don't use them with shaving foam etc.
CT2cc: Run time - 45 mins | Charge time - 1 hr | quick charge | LED indicator |
CT5cc: Run time - 45 mins | Charge time - 1 hr | quick charge | LED indicator |
As you can see the CT2cc & CT5cc are fitted with the same lit-ion battery that provides you with 45 mins run time from just a one hour charge (and comes with a quick 5 min charge to 1 shave feature). Since both are cordless you are given an LED indicator to allow you to gauge the battery condition (and when it is need of a recharge) as well as the travel lock.
Both the CT2cc & CT5cc are backed on a two year warranty coverage (which starts from the day of purchase) for both parts & labour costs.
Dimensions & Weight | Ergonomic Finish
CT2cc: 6.1 x 3.2 x 8.7 inches | 1.2 pounds | Black
CT5cc: 6.1 x 3.2 x 8.7 inches | 1.2 pounds | Grey Lacquered

Accessories/Attachments -- What's in the box?
They both come with their respective shaver (CT5cc & CT2cc) along with the docking station to -- clean, lubricate & charge (which comes w/ a cleaning cartridge too). They also come with a charging cradle, smart plug and a cleaning brush -- the CT5cc package is also fitted with a travel pouch.
Note: aim to replace the shaver heads every 18 months or so.
Conclusion - Which Should You Buy the CT2cc or CT5cc?
Clearly, both models are very similar with only minor cosmetically aspects favouring the CT5cc (in terms of compatibility etc.) and it is for this reason why I'd opt for this more updated model than the CT2cc unless there was a significant difference in price (and in which case I'd advise you to go for which ever is cheapest).
