California Lemon Law Coverage for Other Vehicles

By | Jan 4, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

The Lemon Law in California is one of the best in all fifty states, paralleled by the Federal Lemon Law. Since most cases are on the state level, this is a great thing for those that own vehicles registered in California.
The steps to finding out if your vehicle is a lemon are relatively simple and can be done on any automobile or vehicle.

  • Try and get your car fixed. If you have to return to the shop for the same problem, make sure you document all times and dates, as well as any and all work that was done on your car. It is important to have evidence.
  • Obtain the VIN and run a vehicle history report, if there are any reported incidents of flood or accidents you should be able to find out right away.
  • Contact the dealer, and then write a letter to the manufacturer making them aware of the defect in your vehicle. Though many boats, motorcycles and cars are bought used, you should always alert the manufacturer of any defects in case there is an extended warranty on the vehicle.

If you do think that your vehicle is a Lemon, there are many great advantages to having it registered in California rather than other states.

  • California covers more than just automobiles; RV's, boats, motorcycles, commercial trucks, ATV's, and even small planes have some coverage under the California Lemon Law. You will probably find protection for any vehicle that is registered for use in California.
  • Once your car is deemed a lemon, you qualify for monetary compensation for your vehicle's costs, or a replacement vehicle, and in California, it is normally your choice.

Whether your lemon is a brand new car, or a used ATV, you should seek legal counsel in order to find adequate protection under the California lemon law. There are plenty of law firms all across the state to help you, and many will give you a free estimate so don't hesitate to contact someone for more information.
