Can You Accessorize Electric Fireplaces?

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Learn How to Accessorize Your Electric Fireplace Heaters

Whether you purchase a flat wall or corner electric fireplace or one of the attractive electric stoves on the market, your home will benefit. The realistic logsets and flames create the same cozy atmosphere as a traditional fireplace, without the smoke and tedious cleanup. Once they have installed their new fireplace, some people want to add their personal touch to the area.

An Amish electric fireplace features a real wood mantle and a subtle design. To make it more ornate, add candles of varying heights to the mantle and accentuate the area with some photographs of friends and family. A fireplace screen inserted in front of the unit gives it a classic look. Purchase accessories like a boot brush, coal hod, and a set of tools and place them around the outside to extend the Americana theme.

To take advantage of unused wall space, consider a corner electric fireplace. This turns the corner of a room into a focal point. Ornate cabinets made from cherry, oak, and other high-quality wood are available and fixed glass or operating glass doors grace the front. Mantles are almost triangular-shaped, providing opportunities to take advantage of depth. In the back section, place an attractive plant in an urn. Up front, use a small table runner or doily and add grapevines with intertwined white lights.

If there is no room for the television on another wall or piece of furniture, an electric fireplace TV stand may be the solution. This area really decorates itself, as adding a television to the mantle and filling the compartments and shelves with electronic components, DVDs, and CDs is enough. However, if you still want some flair, place a hearth rug on the floor in front of the electric fireplace.

Electric stoves are usually smaller than a wall or corner unit but that does not mean sacrificing on accenting options. Read the manufacturer instructions to determine if items can be placed on top of the unit. If so, add a scrolled trivet, steamer, and old-fashioned kettle to create a traditional wood stove appearance. A cute hearth cricket accessory on the floor next to the stove completes the look.

In a Victorian home, a wooden fireboard screen is the perfect addition to a traditional Dimplex electric fireplace model. Choose a white cabinet with integrated trim and select an elegant screen that features flowers, baskets, or a picket fence garden scene. If a more subtle look is desired, consider a beautiful folding brass fan screen. The design is extremely ornate and will capture the eye of a guest without overwhelming a room with color.

These are just a few ways to provide a designer touch to an electric fireplace or one of the available electric stoves. When a holiday approaches, redecorate the area to celebrate the occasion. Nutcrackers for Christmas, an Easter basket filled with colorful ceramic eggs, and a large shamrock plant for St. Patrick’s Day are a few ideas. The electric fireplace will always look so attractive, it will become a conversation piece.
