Mechanical Turk or MTurk is a great way to make money in your spare time. Even an hour a day can generate some income. There are no gimmicks or fees to sign up.
If anyone is curious about Mechanical Turk, I have done some research on what it’s all about. I have been signed up for this for years and have never used it as I didn’t have the time to sit down and try to understand it. At first it seemed complicated but once you take five minutes to figure things out, Mechanical Turk can be quite a side income.
It was actually brought to my attention by a college student who was trying it out. She had pointed out that she only does this when she has some spare time. In about two months, she had over $200.00 in her account ready to transfer into her bank account.
I decided to try it for myself and sure enough, it is an easy way to make money. Mechanical Turk consists of “hits.” These are surveys, or requests to do any tasks. Sometimes they will tell you how long they will take and other times they will not. Obviously, the ones that require the most time will pay the most. I’ve seen the tasks range from 0-$60.00. Some of the tasks you won’t qualify at first because there are qualifications for some. You will have to build your hit list at first. My advice is that you build your hit list quickly to qualify for better hits. Here is a trick I’ve learned. If you are having trouble finding higher paying surveys, start researching hits you don’t qualify for that you would be interested in. You can request the qualification and a lot of times you will get it which will lead to some surveys you didn’t have before.
Here is how it works:
You sign up and it may take 48 hours for them to process your information. Then you search for hits. Make sure you search for hits you qualify for at the top of the page. You can signify if you want the hits to start with the ones that pay the most, the oldest, newest, etc. The drop down is at the left hand top of the page just above where the hits start.
Once you find a hit you like, click on it, read what it says, then click “view a hit in this group”. Read the details to make sure you can complete it. If you want to complete it, make sure you click the button at the top of the page that says “accept hit”. If once starting the survey or other function, you decide you do not want to do it, always “return the hit”. If not, you will get like a bad feedback.
You can only accept one hit per group. To remedy doubles, I made a spreadsheet on excel. After a hundred surveys they all start to look the same to me. So, I just put the group name in and click find. The spreadsheet consists of group name, survey name, amount paid and date.
If you do a good job, you may even get bonuses! In answer to the question I presented about Amazon Mechanical Turk: YES, you can make money at this work at home business in your spare time!
