Can You Really Save Money AND Save The Earth?

By 0 0

It’s easy to spend money to help the environment, but what if there’s another way? What if making a few simple changes allowed you to be richer AND true to your environmentally conscious values?

Here are a few simple, eco-friendly lifestyle changes that will help you achieve your goal:

Turn It Down (Or Up)

Do you keep your home set to the same temp all year around? Adjusting the dial as the seasons change can not only help your wallet but decrease your carbon footprint. In the winter months, generally speaking, for each degree that you lower your heat, you’ll save around 5% on your heating bill. Do wear some extra layers but definitely don’t freeze yourself. In the summer months, vice versa, but be kind and don’t reveal ALL your secrets to the neighbours ;)

Second Hand Rules

Reduce, reuse, recycle…why not your clothes? Second hand stores help charity in many cases, help your wallet, and keep quality items out of the landfill. Plus, as a seasoned shopper who knows branding, if you rummage long enough, you might even score a high quality item for a fraction of the original cost. Win-win! Why not???

Strike While The Water Is Hot

Either in a jug or on the stove, boil only what you need. The extra energy that you use to boil that extra bit of unused water…well, you’re literally pouring money down the drain!

Turn 'em on, turn 'em off

The taps, the switches, the unused electronics…do you keep the water on while you’re brushing your teeth, or the lights on when you’re not in the room, or unused electronics plugged in and “leaking” energy? What else could you do with the money that you’re spending to use this power and water that you’re not really using? Could be it going into buying your dream home? Or enjoying a massage? Or a night out on the town? Oh, the possibilities!

Being satisfied with what you have…and using what you have to the fullest…and using just as much as you need and no more are all great ways of being green and keeping that green stuff in your wallet. In the end, it’s just a matter of being a little more conscious about how we run our lives, how we can lessen our environmental impact, and even help our bottom line in the process.

Enjoy the new eco-friendly you!!!
