Can't Afford to Buy New Toys? Rent Them!

By Edited Jul 16, 2015 2 4

A New Way to 'Buy' Toys

The cost of toys can be overwhelming for some families, and while many of them are resorting to camping out all night and braving the crowds for special deals or other sales, several people are looking for new ways to save money. One of the newest ways to save money on the cost of toys is to rent them. Renting toys works similar to renting movies but you can keep the toys longer than a day or two.

Where to Rent

One website that offers toy rentals is ToyGaroo.com (TG). They have over 500 toys available and you can choose from three subscription packages. You can also elect to receive a monthly or bimonthly delivery and you can even purchase any toy your child "just has to have," at a discounted price.  TG also offers a 14 day risk free trial for those who may be a bit skeptical about online toy rental.

How It Works

Renting toys through TG is easy, the first step is to take a look at all the toys available and add the ones you want to your ‘wish list.’ The toys are then delivered to your door and you get to keep them for 30 days (or longer if you wish). Lastly, return the toys to get a new shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are the plans and prices: A. TG offers a variety of toy rental packages and all plans are billed monthly, toys can be exchanged every 30 or 60 days (depending on your plan).

Q. Are the toys shipped sanitized: A. TG prides themselves on shipping toys with the “No Yuck Factor.” They have developed a three step cleaning process that makes every toy shipped sanitary and ready for safe play, and they claim their toys are cleaner than any toy you can purchase from a store.

Q. What happens if a child loves one of the toys and parents want to buy it: A. If any member has a particular toy at home that their child is really enjoying, they are encouraged  to hang on to it for 1 more month and make sure their little one is still attached. If it is definitely a toy that is a keeper, then TG is happy to sell that toy to the parents at a discounted price.

Q. What do I do if I receive a broken toy: A. When you receive your Toygaroo box, be sure to open it right away and check the toys. Broken toys must be reported within 72 hours of being received. You can report a broken toy by logging into your TG account, going to the ‘My Accounts’ tab and then click ‘Report a Broken Toy.’ TG will give you the option of choosing to receive an extra toy in your next shipment or getting a replacement shipped right away

Q. What happens if my child breaks a toy: A. TG works hard to find high quality toys that last, however, in the event a child breaks a toy, the parents will be required to purchase the toy at a discounted price.

Q. What do I do if I lose pieces to a toy: A. If you lose any pieces to a toy, TG will allow you 30 days to find that piece. In the event it/they cannot be found there will be a missing pieces fee applied to your account. The average missing pieces fee is from $2-$8 per piece lost.

Q. How do I return my toys: A. TG uses FedEX for their shipping needs. When you are ready to return your box, simply apply the provided return shipping label to the box of toys and drop that box off at your nearest FedEx location.

Q. What do I do if I lose my return label: A. Contact TG by sending an e-mail to support@toygaroo.com and let them know you need a new return label, they will e-mail one to you right away.

Q. What do you mean by “Risk Free Trial": A. The 14 day risk free trial does not begin until your first box of toys are shipped. If you are not satisfied for any reason simply ship your toys back to TG within 14 days. The toys will be inspected it to ensure all items are returned and in the same condition as they were delivered and then TG will refund the full monthly fee back to you. Any shipment sent to a hotel or rental property is not eligible for a refund or a Risk Free Trial

Q. Who Pays for Shipping: A. All TG Plans include Free Shipping, you just pay the monthly membership fee and they take care of the rest!
