Car Insurance for Teenagers

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Getting car insurance for teenagers can be tricky. Do you have them get their own insurance, do you put them on your policy and have them pay you, or do you put them on your policy and pay for it for them? It's hard to figure out what the best plan of action is.

One way to look at it is if your teenager is old enough to try and responsible enough to drive, they should be old enough and responsible enough to get a job and pay for the insurance themselves. The decision of giving them their own policy or putting them on yours is a tough one. This isn't something you want to jump into and this isn't necessarily something with the right or wrong answer.

First, think about how responsible they are and what kind of driver they are. If there are responsible and they are responsible on the road, it might be worth putting them on your policy so that they get a lower premium. On the other hand, if you are unsure that they will be safe drivers on the road, you don't want them to ruin your plan in increase your premiums. In that case, they might not even be ready to be driving at all.

Talk with your teenager and see what they think about the whole situation. They might be more comfortable having their own insurance anyway, or they may be more comfortable being with you. Make the decision together and you can choose the right decision to get affordable auto insurance.
