By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

In the past, hair loss was something that only adult men worried about. However, nowadays hair loss affects a huge cross section of society including children, teens and women.

Hair loss affects estimated 40 million men and 20 million women in the United States and is usually due to a hereditary condition called androgenetic alopecia which 95% of these people suffer from. There are many causes of hair loss because hair follicles are very sensitive. For example, hair loss in children and teens are usually attributed to illnesses, an improper diet or side effects from medical treatments i.e. chemotherapy.

For adults, they may be suffering from natural balding or a hair loss condition such as alopecia.Psychological factors such as stress can also cause hair loss as they cause hairs to stop growing. Most hair shedding is due to the normal hair cycle, and losing 50 to 100 hairs per day. This means that when hair falls out, the same volume does not re-grow in time to cover the fall out as would happen naturally.

One type of hair loss condition for men is male pattern which refers to a receding hairline from the forehead along with baldness from the crown of the head. The process usually takes 15 - 25 years but some people can become completely bald within 5 years.

There is also a variation of female pattern hair loss for women. This is recognized by a balding patch in the center of the head. This affects 30% of women and usually occurs after menopause but some women experience hair loss after puberty.Thyroid disease can also cause hair loss in men and women. Both an overactive thyroid and an under active thyroid can cause hair loss. The most common method to diagnose thyroid disease is through your doctor using a blood test.

The good news is that Hair loss associated with thyroid disease can be reversed with proper treatment.Although there are many causes of hair loss, there are equally a lot of treatments. To find out more on alopecia hair loss treatments, please take a look at Hairloss-Relief.com.
