Causes of Premature Wrinkles

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Whether it is around the eyes or on the forehead premature wrinkles can occur anywhere. The cause of premature wrinkling can vary from person to person. Everyone's skin ages at a different rate. There is no specific time when wrinkles will begin to form.

For the most part when wrinkles begin to form it is mostly based on heredity. So ask your parents or look at old photos of them to see how well they aged. Even take a look at your grandparents, they hold the key to your future.

There are however causes of premature wrinkling that have been identified to cause the skin to age faster than it otherwise should. The three main causes of premature wrinkles are smoking, too much sun exposure, and a unbalenced diet.

Everyone is aware or should know that smoking causes the skin to lose its moisture at an accelerated rate causing wrinkles to appear sooner than they otherwise would. Inhaling on a cigarette also causes lines to form around the mouth and no I don't mean laugh lines. I find the lip wrinkles to be the ugliest place for wrinkles to form. So if you smoke do not only do your body the favor of quitting but also your skin will thank you.

While exposure to the sun's rays is good for your vitamin D levels it is not good for the look of your skin. The ultraviolet rays from the sun cause damage to the membranes of the skin cells. This damage weakens skin and causes wrinkles and fine lines to appear. Tanning booths are not an alternative to get a tan. The same harm is caused by tanning beds that is caused by the suns rays. If you must be in the sun for extended amount of times it is best to wear a sunscreen with a SPF of at least thirty.

Now a little about diet and how it affects the skin. The skin is the largest organ in the human body and like other organs diet plays a role in the health of the skin. It is best to avoid coffee and alcoholic beverages, both cause the body to excrete more water than normal. The skin is 80% water so it is best to only drink water and stay away from caffeinated drinks to prevent premature wrinkles.
