You pay a lot for your cell phone service, yet the call quality often lacks. The signal strength varies form place to place. You are talking away, and suddenly your cell cuts in and out, or just plain drops your call. It is frustrating. Is there anything you can do about this bad service?

Changing phone carriers may be an option. Some are better than others, and it varies from region to region. Another alternative is to buy a cell phone booster. There boosters available for cars and for use inside the home.

A cell phone booster is simply a signal amplifier. A lot of call areas have weak signals. A signal amplifier will pick up the weak signal and provide a boost to it. Then the signal is either sent to your phone, or the stronger signal is transmitted for your cell to pick up. You can get mobile cell phone boosters for your car or a stationary one for your house.

A cell phone booster kit for your vehicle can include a booster signal amplifier, antenna and connector cables, privacy headset and a hands free kit. The antenna mounts on either the roof or your car or on a window. A magnetic mount can be used for the antenna. A cable runs directly from the antenna, into your car, and is connected to the cell phone. The phone can be set into the phone cradle mounted on the dashboard of your car for hands free use. Installation is straight forward and requires no tools.

A cell phone booster will reduce the number of dropped calls when traveling. It also can extend the range of calls. This works great for a car or boat, but sometimes you need a signal booster when you are "traveling" inside the house, walking from room to room.

You can purchase cell phone boosters to use inside your home or office. There are wired models with connector cables and wireless models. With a wired model, you place the antenna on top of your home, or any other place where you can get good signal strength. A cable connects the antenna directly to your mobile phone port. The disadvantage is you are tethered to the antenna, and your mobility is restricted.

With wireless boosters you do not need to connect a cable to your phone. Instead, the antenna is attached to a repeater. Another advantage of a wireless booster, is that more than one phone can take advantage of it.

Whichever type cell phone signal booster you choose, the end result is that you will have more bars, better reception and no dropped calls. All because of the stronger signal supplied by the booster.
