Cheap ceiling fans are available for all budgets from several top companies that combine fashion and functionality. If you're interested in reducing your electric bill during the summer and winter months, you can use a cheap ceiling fan to help you accomplish your goal and improve the aesthetic appeal of the room.

Ceiling fan technology allows consumers the joy of choosing from a variety of options, like a Tiffany style, or an art deco style, and even customize fans to match their décor. Discounted ceiling fans are available with remote control devices, dimmers and energy efficient LED lighting options. Shopping for the right ceiling fan is not as simple as you think, because they are manufactured in a variety of styles. They feature anywhere from 3-5 blades, ranging in length depending upon your room size and how much warmth or cooling is needed.

The construction of ceiling fans makes it seem like they actually change a room's temperature, but they do not. In warm weather, science 101 dictates that hot air rises, building up as it heads toward the ceiling. A ceiling fan simply disperses the warm air around, away from the ceiling as it rises, making it feel cooler. When you change the fan's blade direction in the fall or winter, you get hot air pulled up and moved around a room which makes it feel warmer.

Air movement by a fan changes the air, either in the summer or winter, by as much as 10-15 degrees. The operation and rotation of a ceiling fan is quite simple, because they have a reversible directional switch located on the center of the fan, generally near the light fixture(s).

The material used to manufacturer ceiling fans today is more cost effective and encourages lots of creative designs for every room in the house, as well as outdoors. There is a category called "fanimation" featuring ceiling fans designed with retractable blades, gyro spinning blades, translucent blades, colorful blades, cartoon character blades and whimsical geometric style blades.

In addition to fanimations, there are specifically designed ceiling fans that are used in damp and wet areas. These fans are used in professional kitchens, spas, saunas or poolside patios. Their blades are made from weather resistant materials that protect the fan motor from rust and are moisture resistant. The more popular styled fans and lighting parts, consist of standard styles that feature colonial, country, contemporary, traditional, tropical, vintage and many other styles. Many basic off the shelf ceiling fans have blade that can be replaced as a DIY project, but customized ceiling fans will require contacting your manufacturer for the exact width and weight to match the fan's motor.

Finally, ceiling fans generally have three speeds, high, medium and low, but there are some which offer anywhere from four speeds up to six. Another common operating feature of ceiling fans includes the pull-chain, which is made from metal or cloth and turns the fan off and on. There are also remote controlled ceiling fans which will totally impress your friends. Cheap ceiling fans are available with a remote control device, allowing users the ability to change the speed and the lighting levels via a hand-held control.
