Affordable Places to Stay Near Disneyland

Would you like to treat your family to a Disney hotel package in Anaheim, California, but can't afford to stay in one of the beautiful Disney resort hotels that are attached to the theme parks? Although Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Disneyland Hotel, and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel are all beautiful and convenient, they are not your only choices for a Disney package. Anaheim has a large number of moderately priced hotels, and Disney has even been courteous enough to recommend some of the ones that they have partnered with. They call them their Disney Good Neighbor Hotels. All of these hotels are near Downtown Disney, which is a fun area of shops and restaurants located between the Magic Kingdom and California Adventure, and they meet certain Disney standards in order to be listed on their website. This helps protect you from accidentally staying in a motel in a bad neighborhood (and there are, unfortunately, some run down areas of Anaheim).

Disney Parks

If you want additional information about planning your trip, or would like to buy your souvenirs before you arrive in Anaheim, you can use this direct link to Disney books, tapes and products from Amazon.com.

This is another easy way to save money on your Disney vacation.

Listed below are many of the current Disney Good Neighbor Hotels in Anaheim. Many of these Disney Good Neighbor Hotels encourage you to book a special Disney Vacation Package with them, which can include your passes to The Magic Kingdom and the California Adventure Theme Parks, some of your meals, and other special amenities, depending on the hotel. Or, you can purchase your Disney tickets online, and arrange a separate hotel and meal package. For example, when you book your reservations, you can also sign up for the special Magic Meal Plans in the Disney parks, if you choose. There are a wide variety of Disney deals and price ranges available.  Be sure to do your research and choose the package that is cheapest and will work the best for your family.

Anaheim Marriott Hotel – Two Blocks from Disneyland

The Anaheim Marriott Hotel is an attractive high rise with 1030 guest rooms. Rooms come with a refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer, cable TV, iron and ironing board. The location has an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool, gift shop, four restaurants, a guest laundry, a lounge and a fitness center. If you purchase a Disney vacation package, up to three kids can eat free in the restaurants, per paid entrée for one adult.

About half a mile away, Marriott also has the Anaheim Marriott Suites Hotel. They have 371 guest suites, each with a separate living room and bedroom. Both the living room and bedroom have separate televisions, and HBO and the Disney Channel are complimentary. If you purchase a Disney vacation package at this hotel, there is also a free breakfast buffet for 4-6 guests for each paid night you stay in the hotel (4 guests in a King Suite or 6 guests in a Family Suite). This hotel also has a swimming pool, whirlpool, restaurants, lounge, gym, guest laundry, gift shop and game room. Pets are allowed, with some restrictions. Contact the hotel, if you plan to bring a pet along.

There is also a Courtyard by Marriott in Anaheim, less than a mile from the Disneyland Theme Park.

If you get a discount at Marriott Hotels, or you have points you can use, you have plenty of convenient choices.

Best Western Hotels near Downtown Disney

Best Western also owns several Disney area locations that are located less than a mile from the Disneyland Theme Park. In fact, the Best Western Park Place Inn is located almost across the street from Downtown Disney. The rooms have a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. There is also an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool, gift shop, guest laundry, and restaurant.

Other Best Westerns near Downtown Disney and the Disney theme parks include the Best Western Pavilions, the Best Western Raffles Inn & Suites, and the Best Western Stovall's Inn.

Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort near Disneyland

Although more expensive than some of the other Disney area resorts, this Spanish style hotel has 384 guest rooms and has received a Superior rating from Disneyland. It is located less than a mile from the theme park. It, too, has a swimming pool, whirlpool, gift shop, restaurant, lounge, fitness center, game room and guest laundry. It is one of the more luxurious hotels outside of the Disney parks.

Hampton Inn & Suites in Anaheim near Disneyland

The Hampton Inn chain operates a nice hotel with 172 queen/queen rooms that come with similar amenities to the other places mentioned above, including a heated pool and whirlpool. They also include complimentary continental breakfast for their guests every morning.

Cheap Disney Hotels in Anaheim

Most of the hotels listed above would be listed as moderately priced. However, there are some places to stay in Anaheim that are listed as Disney Good Neighbor hotels and that also have economy prices.

The Jolly Roger Hotel is an example of a location that has made Disney's Good Neighbor list, but it is considered an economy hotel. It has 58 rooms and its amenities include a swimming pool, gift shop and laundry facilities. For those of you who like to bring your pets, this place is also listed as pet friendly.   That is not always easy to find in a big city.

Another economy motel is the Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate. This convenient location has 235 redesigned, large guest rooms. Amenities include expanded cable TV, HBO, WiFi, free coffee service, and a heated outdoor pool and whirlpool in a garden setting. The Motel 6 is also pet friendly.

A third economy selection is the Quality Inn and Suites which also has a swimming pool, free parking, and includes deluxe complimentary continental breakfast every morning.

Other Large Hotel Chains near Disneyland

One way to reduce the cost of your Disney vacation is to apply some of your hotel points or airline miles towards paying for one or more of your nights in Anaheim. Our family has often done this in the past to reduce our travel expenses. Therefore, I wanted to list some of the major chains that have hotels on Disney's Good Neighbor list. This may help you quickly decide which chain would be best for you. Many of them have more than one location in the area.

In addition to the chains already mentioned, you can also choose to stay at one of the Hilton Hotels in Anaheim, the Clarion Hotel Anaheim Resort, Doubletree Guest Suites, Embassy Suites (two locations), one of the Holiday Inns, Howard Johnson Hotel, Hyatt Regency Orange County, La Quinta Inn & Suites, Ramada Inn Maingate, Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area, or one of the two Sheraton Hotels

More Hotel Chains and Independent Hotels near Disneyland

If you want to avoid staying in a large chain, there are also several small hotels that you may wish to consider. They vary in price, and some of them look quite cute. Among these are the Anabella Hotel, Anaheim Camelot Inn & Suites, the Candy Cane Inn, the Carousel Inn & Suites, Cortona Inn & Suites, Desert Palms Inn & Suites, the Hotel Menage, Portofino Inn & Suites, the Red Lion Hotel Anaheim, the Staybridge Suites Anaheim Resort, the Anaheim Fairfield Hotel and the Tropicana Inn & Suites. All of these are listed as Disney Good Neighbor hotels.

Additional Disney Hotel Information

As an Orange County resident, there is some additional information that I wanted to pass on to anyone looking for a cheap Disney hotel. If you use a travel website to make your reservations, you may discover that there are some hotels in Anaheim that are cheaper than the ones listed as Disney Good Neighbor hotels. However, you should be aware that Anaheim has several low-priced motels, often miles away from the Disney resort, that have become the semi-permanent residences of homeless families paying by the week, as well as other very poor residents of Orange County. These hotels are often in very seedy areas of town. Although they serve a need for cheap housing in Orange County, and may be listed on travel websites as very cheap hotels, they are probably not the places you want to stay while enjoying a family Disney vacation.

If you are traveling to Southern California, you may also be interested in reading the articles listed below. Some of them will give you ideas of other places to visit while you are in Orange County, or other parts of the county where you may wish to spend all or some of your time while in Southern California. Very helpful information for Disneyland visitors. I have a friend who works for Disney inside the various Good Neighbor hotels. She and other employees, move from hotel to hotel, helping people with park passes, restaurant recommendations, etc. Although many hotels are within walking distance to the park, free shuttles also transport visitors from their hotels to Disneyland and California Adventure.
