There are literally hundreds of different types and styles of mattress that you can buy. With such a large range to choose from people can often be overwhelmed and confused when it comes to buying a new mattress. If you don’t make the right choice then you have simply wasted hundreds or thousands of dollars on something that negatively affects your quality of sleep. In this article, I will discuss the three most common mistakes that people make when choosing a mattress.

1. The Wrong Support

Your mattress needs to give your body the correct support. When lying down, your spine and neck should be in correct alignment just like you were standing up in correct posture. If your skeleton is out of alignment you will develop muscle aches, joint stiffness and head aches. This is because without your skeleton taking most of your body’s weight your muscles will need to do all the work. They will become stiff and sore during the night.

2. The Wrong Comfort Level

Many people choose cheap mattress sets which they simply don’t like because they are too soft or too hard for their personal taste. This is most often due to the fact that they didn’t spend enough time in the show room testing the mattress and the alternatives. The best way to test whether a mattress is comfortable for you is to take off your shoes and lie back. If you have a partner, make them lie next to you and have them changes position several times to test the bed’s movement. Take all the time you need and then test other beds in the showroom. If you still can’t decide come back the next day and try again.

3. The Wrong Size

People need space when they sleep. Otherwise they feel crowded and will tense up during the night leading to a restless sleep and muscle aches. Mattresses can range from the smallest size of twins and full which are best for teenagers and children. For couples, queens and kings are the best. Which one you choose depends on you and your partner, and the amount of space that makes both of you feel comfortable.

If you avoid these three mistakes then you will be able to buy a cheap mattress in next to no time. There will be no need to worry about waking up feeling tired, sore or grumpy. Instead, you will have a great night sleep so that you can wake up the next day feeling bright and happy.
