Cheap outdoor patio furniture is getting a little harder to find, but you can still get great bargains on most chairs, tables, porch swings, and lawn chairs.  If you are looking for a complete set, you will be able to save more money than if you buy it all separately.  With this in mind, I would like to share some information about the different kinds of patio furniture out there, so you can decide which is the best for you.  As you shop around, you’ll find clearance prices, even during the summer.  Here are some of the most common types of outside furnishings you will find.

Cheap Aluminum Outdoor Patio Furniture

When it comes to cheap outdoor patio furniture, you probably won’t be looking at aluminum.  It is more expensive than the others on the list, but it has some great benefits.  First, aluminum does not rust like steel and wrought iron, so it can last a lifetime, or close to it.  In addition, it is very lightweight, so it’s easy to move around into storage, should you need to do that.  Porch swings and chairs, or even tables can be made of aluminum.  The only real drawback is the price, which is the highest of all.  Of course, if you shop near the autumn, you will find some really good clearance sales, where prices can be as much as 50% off or more.  I think anyone would clearly consider that to be a very good deal.

Wood Patio Furniture

Wooden outdoor furniture is and probably will always be very popular.  It is a nice, natural look, which will go well in almost any outside setting, regardless of the other materials around it.  You will find the prices are pretty cheap, but some will be more expensive than others.  There are some reasons some are more and some are less, which I would like to share with you right now.

One of the ways manufacturers try to keep costs down and deliver a cheap buying is to use untreated pine, which simply will not hold up for nearly as long as treated lumber or even that made of redwood or cedar, which is naturally resistant to rot and decay.  Picnic table and other items placed directly on the ground are more prone to rotting than those which are placed on decks.  To help make the items last longer, you can paint them or use a water sealer.  Painting is actually a nice way to make them match your outdoor décor, but it will probably need to be touched up every few seasons.  This is one of the more common issues with this type of outdoor furniture sets.

Wrought Iron Patio Sets

You can find cheap wrought iron patio furniture for outdoor living at most retailers.  For the most part, bistro sets made of wrought iron are the norm at the stores.  You will find other items, but that seems to be the most popular when made of this material.  There are some pros and cons to wrought iron, which you might want to consider before you move forward and make your purchase.

First up, the price is pretty reasonable and the items are actually quite sturdy and strong.  You will find few other materials which are nearly as strong as wrought iron.  Of course, as with any other type of item, there are some drawbacks as well.   For starters, it is prone to rust and is pretty heavy.  Some will show rust after just a couple of seasons out in the weather.  Since it is heavy as well, putting them into storage will take some effort on your end.  Still, with the price so reasonable and with a classic look, it is a good value which you might want to consider as you shop around for bargains and fantastic prices.

Plastic and Resin Outdoor Furniture

This will generally be the cheapest you will find, but some of the items you’ll find for sale are made very well.  There is a big difference in quality as you look at the cheap, flimsy plastic and compare it to the thick, sturdy resin.  You will find chairs and tables at very good prices and in a variety of different colors from multiple manufacturers with little effort.  A simple trip to almost any big box retailer  or home improvement store and you will have lots of options to check out.

This type of outdoor furniture is able to be left outside in the elements, without suffering much damage beyond sun fading.  It can withstand the rain and sun and will generally hold up fairly well.  It would still be wise to put them away into storage during winter months, if you live in very cold climates.  At very cold temperatures, plastic and resin is a little more prone to breaking.

Wicker Outdoor Patio Furniture

Wicker isn’t really cheap, but it’s not too terribly expensive compared to some of the others on the list.  You will be able to find chairs and even tables as you search for cheap outdoor wicker furniture.  The price is great and it is very lightweight, especially compared to some of the other options listed, but it is not something you should leave outside in the rain.  It should be sheltered at all times, since the wicker is prone to decay and can break down after just a season or two outside, in an uncovered shelter. This is a common problem with this type of material and should be considered carefully when you look to make a purchase.

You can find great prices on wicker furnishings for outside living, especially if you shop near the end of summer, when they are clearance priced and reduced for quick sale.  Be sure to check out the clearance areas of the stores, so you don't miss out on the best deals.  As you search for cheap outdoor patio furniture, wicker is a good place to start out.
