Cheap Renters Insurance
How to get cheap renters insurance? The same way you get cheap homeowners insurance.
The apartment, townhouse, or condo you live in is (unless you own the place) covered by your landlord's homeowners insurance. This protects your landlord's residence (in which you live in), but not your own belongings. As such, you need insurance to cover your personal property. To save money on it you're going to have to do the following
Shop around! Nothing will save you more money than covering as many bases as possible. Insurers have very different risk assessment profiles meaning that the rates they give you will be very different. If you stick with just one company you might be missing out on very healthy savings. Cheap apartment renters insurance depends largely on you, not some
single company. The more you keep your options open, the more you'll
save.Of course, you also want to deal with a reputable company.
See if your car insurer can offer you renters insurance as well. Although shopping around to get cheap renters insurance is a good thing, "combo" coverage may be a better option depending on the discounts your insurance company gives you.
Like with any type of insurance, the higher your deductible is, the less in insurance you'll pay. Your deductible is the amount of money you pay for damage done to your belongings before your insurance company comes in and pays the rest.
Make sure that your residence is locked off well. The most important opening, your door, needs to have a dead bolt lock.
Get some safety gear. This would include a fire alarm and some type of security system. You don't have to get one of those full-fledged $30 per month system, just one which has a very load burglar alarm.
