Cherry Fruit Trees: Cherry Trees for Sale

By | Oct 17, 2010 | 1 Comments | Rating: 1

Cherry fruit trees are visually appealing and produce fruit that tastes fantastic! Cherry fruit trees are trees that are cost effective to grow, because cherry fruit is typically quite spendy within the stores.

There are several different types of cherry trees for sale, and the kind that you will end up buying will largely depend on where you live and what kind of climate that you have. Some of the kinds of cherry trees for sale that may be available to you are Rainer, Bing, Stella, Van, Queen Ann, and more. As mentioned above, you could actually knock a few dollars off of your grocery bill if you are going to buy cherry tree varieties that are edible. I live in Washington state, where many varieties of cherry fruit trees actually thrive and grow quite a lot of fruit each year. Even living here, and with much of the crop being local, it's not unusual to see cherries for sale in stores at about $6.50 a pound (usually Rainer or Bing variety). How odd that the fruit would have so few shipping miles to end up in the stores and still end up so expensive! Especially with it being in an area where people could find and buy cherry trees for sale so easily.

Where to find cherry trees for sale?

Large home improvement and garden stores frequently carry cherry fruit trees.
Living in Washington state, it is not uncommon at all to be able to buy cherry trees for sale at the local Lowes or Home Depot. I am not sure if this is true in regions outside of the Northwest corner of the country, but it is certainly worth a try to see if your local big box gardening store carries cherry trees for sale.

Local, small nursery businesses might be helpful if you are looking to buy cherry trees.
Local nurseries are more likely to carry strange things that don't necessarily grow in your areas temperament or region. Sometimes, it ends up that people who are really avid gardeners are more likely to hit up small local nurseries than big box department garden stores because a lot of the time the things are not grown in a hot box and the plants may be more healthy. Because of this target population of specialty gardeners, they know that they also have a crowd of customers who will be interested in growing things either outside of the normal zone, or a bit more challenging than your common garden variety.

For example, at a local nursery that I love to shop, they sell lime trees and kumquats….in Washington state, mind you! If I can find these kinds of trees (that are relatively speaking, so exotic), then other states should be able to find cherry trees for sale within their own small nurseries. If you really want to buy cherry fruit trees, it could take a little research, but I would definitely recommend checking out the small growing businesses near you. These places also tend to give excellent advice about whatever it is you are purchasing, so if you find cherry trees for sale, you can bet that there will be a pro there who is happy to give you a little advice on how best to get a ton of fruit off of your cherry tree, and also let you know how you might be able to best help the cherry fruit tree acclimatize to your temp zone.

Look online for cherry trees for sale.
I have ordered fruit trees online several times now, and each time it has been a very positive experience. The company that I have purchased from is the Four Winds Growers, and the orders have all been online. Whether or not you can find cherry trees for sale at this particular website is not so much relevant as it is important that you grasp that online is a great way to shop for cherry fruit trees, especially when you live in an area where it is hard to get a hold of them.

You will need to know what variety of cherry trees for sale you want to buy, and you will need to know what size. You can buy cherry trees for sale that are at a fully mature size for instant fruit and instant privacy in terms of the shade and blockage that it can provide. This will be a much more expensive way to buy cherry fruit trees and so I do not highly recommend it. The best way to buy cherry tree online is to find a variety that is between 2-5 years old. This way, it's not too gigantic and it wont cost a lot for you to ship-but it will still be very well established and it wont take too long before it starts to produce fruit.

Planting and growing cherry trees
Whether you are buying cherry trees for sale in stores or online, you will want to have a place picked out for your new tree, and possibly even a hole dug for it. You will need to dig a hole twice the size of the pot that it is in; possibly churning up soil in and around that size of a planting hole, just to give it the most opportune growing environment. Gently lower the cherry fruit tree, and then fill the rest of the hole in with soil. Water your cherry fruit tree directly after planting it, and watch it for the first few months to make sure that the soil never gets to dry (this is important while the cherry fruit tree is taking root in it's new home!). You may have to take special precaution in order to make sure that your cherry fruit tree's cherries do not all get eaten up by birds (a very common problem in Washington state!). A scarecrow, some kinds of thin netting, and some scents and sprays can help fend off the birds from your cherry fruit tree.

Enjoy your new cherry fruit tree and it's delicious fruit!

Very few things taste as good as fresh picked cherries. Great article!
