Chili Bean Recipe Made With 5 Kinds of Beans

1 lb. ground beef, 95% lean
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup green pepper, chopped
1 cup celery, sliced
1 can (14.5 oz. size) diced tomatoes with onions, celery, and bell peppers
2 cans (8 oz. size) tomato sauce with basil, garlic, and oregano
½ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup oatmeal, Quaker Oats, Quick-1 Minute
2 tsp. chili powder
¼ tsp. onion salt
½ tsp. celery seed
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1 can (16 oz. size) chili beans with mild sauce
1 can (15 oz. size) seasoned black beans, drained
1 can (14.5 oz. size) green beans, drained
1 can (14 ½ oz. size) wax beans, drained
1 can (15 ¼ oz. size) lima beans, drained
salt pepper to taste
Place the ground beef in a stainless steel 5 quart Dutch oven, and cook it over low heat until just about done.
Stir the chopped onions, chopped green peppers, and the diagonally sliced celery into the ground beef. Cook until the onions, peppers, and celery are tender.
Pour in the can of diced tomatoes and the tomato sauce. Stir to blend.
Add in the brown sugar, oatmeal, chili powder, onion salt, celery seed, and garlic powder. Stir until all ingredients are well blended.
Pour in the chili beans, seasoned black beans (drained), green beans (drained), wax beans (drained), and the lima beans (drained). Stir to make sure all of the ingredients are well mixed.
This chili bean recipe can be cooked two different ways. Cover and cook it over low heat on top of the stove for about 1 hour, being sure to stir frequently. Or, it can be baked in a 350-degree oven for about 1 hour.
