Choose A Futon Mattress For Sleeping Too
If you have ever thought that a futon was just for the convenience of a sleeper-sofa but rarely use the sleeper part, think again. That many people in Japan using futon mattresses can’t be wrong. You would think that if this type of mattress was uncomfortable or had some other major drawbacks to it, that it wouldn’t be used there either. The cell phone technology in Japan is light years ahead of ours here in the U.S., don’t you think they could design a better mattress if needed?
The thing with the futon is that it serves double duty here. In most traditional style homes in Japan, the futon mattress is a two part system made up of the pad and then a quilted topper piece. Both together make up the complete futon bed. In our culture, we have designed the futon to be used more for a couch than a sleeping arrangement. That being said, even the futon is more mobile and convenient to use as a fold-out bed than the traditional type of sleeper-sofa that plague most American homes. I say plague because have you ever slept on one? If you have, then you have likely experienced that metal bar that seems to hit you right in the small of the back as you sleep. Those thin mattresses barely provide enough protection from the metal let alone support for sleeping.
Futon Mattresses Provide Many Options
There are plenty of reasons to select a futon for your main bed to sleep in as well. There are some limitations with size, depending upon the manufacturer. If you want to sleep on a very comfortable bed that doesn’t have an enormous price tag associated with it, then going with a futon is a good choice. Mind you, you can still get great features like a memory foam mattress, topper, inner-coiled springs and wonderful support in a futon. Yes, you read that correctly. That last sentence was talking about a futon, not a conventional mattress. See, this is one of the misconceptions that holds many people back from buying a futon.
There is this notion that futons are only for starving students or newlyweds or something. The simple fact of the matter is that many modern and hip homes are using futons as part of their overall décor plans. You can find that a functional futon that not only looks great but has the ability to be dressed up or down using a variety of futon covers as well. Having the option of extra seating for entertaining and then being able to provide a bed for some unexpected guests is a great luxury that a futon mattress best represents.
