Choosing Between A Plasma And LCD TV

By | May 3, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 1

Are you looking to purchase a new flat screen television and having difficulty in choosing between a plasma and LCD television?

When deciding between a HDTV LCD or plasma TV, it may initially make little or no difference to you. After all, the exteriors of each of the types of flat screen TVs look virtually identical. However, the technology involved to create the images are dramatically different. As a result, there are differences in the nature of the picture which makes one technology a better choice than another, depending on the specifics of your individual needs. If you are undecided between a plasma or LCD television, the following suggestions should help.

IS THE FLAT PANEL PLASMA TV RIGHT FOR YOU?

There are three main reasons why a plasma TV might be appropriate to suit your needs.

First, if the size of the screen is your number one priority, a plasma television is the choice for you.

Second, if the configuration of the room in which you watch television is such that a wide viewing angle is required, plasma TVs, again, are the perfect option.

Third, if you are a movie nut that demands a movie-quality picture, a good plasma television set will satisfy that need.

IS THE FLAT PANEL LCD TV RIGHT FOR YOU?

On the other hand, an LCD television set reigns supreme where other conditions are present.

For example, if the room in which you watch television is bright, LCD is the way to go.

Additionally, if you (or your children) intend to engage in heavy video game sessions, or if you are going to use the TV screen as your computer monitor, the LCD may be the best option.

WHEN DOES NOT REALLY MATTER?

If you are concerned about the longevity of your new purchase, either choice is acceptable.

Similarly, if you are looking for a television set that will be able to "keep up with" fast paced sports and action movies, both the plasma and LCD TVs are great.

Finally, if you intend to mount your flat screen on a wall, this is an option for both types. Obviously, however, you will need to insure that proper installation methods are followed, especially if you opt for a larger (i.e., fifty to sixty inch) plasma since they tend to weigh more than their LCV counterparts. The best way to accomplish this goal is make sure the television mounts are attached securely to the wall studs.
