Choosing Outdoor Patio Roofs

By | Jun 23, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Anyone wanting to choose outdoor patio roofs has many different options open to them such as the ever popular awnings that are an extremely practical choice, especially if they are retractable. You can even find motorized versions these days that come complete with a remote control. You can also get awnings which are fixed in place, made from aluminum and in a number of different shape including convex, canopies, and modern domes. Perhaps the finest aluminum awnings are those created with an up-to-date finish that you may not have seen yet such as imitation wood which comes in a variety of interesting colors to match your property.

Alumawood Lattice Covers

Some of the best lattice arbors and deck covers are created using a product that goes by the name of Alumawood which is a wood lookalike material. You can find them as carport designs as well as for covering your patio, and the one you choose will have a lot to do with the weather where you live. For example if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow fall then you will need a design that has a lot of inherent strength to deal with the weight of heavy snow on the roof.

These are Aluminum but really do look surprisingly like real wood, they are even available with cedar embossed finishes and a texture that looks just like wood grain. They are styles which are great for patio roofs and enclosures along with high quality sun rooms that make extensive use of glass.

Other Options

If you don't want the like the look of alumawood then perhaps a vinyl patio roof which is also available in a wood finish will be more up your street. But there are many other materials which are worth a look such as regular aluminum, PVC and fiberglass. All of these options require very little maintenance which will leave you with plenty of time to enjoy your outdoor living space.

How Much Will They Cost?

You usually buy a patio roofing system in a kit which will allow you to build it yourself and help reduce costs but they still aren't super cheap. If you buy online though you should be able to find one made of aluminum that costs about $10 per foot. The kit will usually come with everything you need to get the cover up, except the cement pads that you will need to organize yourself.
