The lowest calorie holiday drinks are champagne, wine, spiced apple cider, and sparkling grape juice. These are the best bets to stick with. Four ounces of champagne contains about 100 calories, 5 ounces of red wine has 125 calories, white wine has 121 calories, non-alcoholic wine has 9 calories, 8 ounces of spiced apple cider has 117 calories, and 8 ounce of sparkling grape juice has 150 calories. Those are not too horrible. It gets worse.
The next best choices would be hot cocoa, and hot buttered rum. Eight ounces of hot cocoa contains 190, but then the buttered rum of the same amount contains 292 calories.
The ones you might want to skip this year are eggnog and Irish cream liquer. Eight ounces of eggnog contains 395 calories, and only four ounces of Irish cream has 407 calories. That's a lot! The eggnogg is hard to stay away from during the holidays, but it really is not great for you. If you must have some, limit yourself to one cup or try to find a reduced fat or a reduced calorie eggnogg at your local store.
