Choosing a trailer dolly

A trailer dolly has many functions. It can pull all terrain vehicles, motorcycles, garden tractors, and golf carts. It can be used as well as a small trailer. It is convenient for towing another vehicle behind a motor home or a recreational vehicle. It is also ideal for the towing of a race or any private car. Tow dollies are widely used by car rental agencies and car lots for the sale of new or second-hand cars.

There are many tow dollies to choose from. When buying one for business or personal use, you must be adequately equipped with the basic knowledge on tow dollies. Check on some of the tow dollies available today as specified below.

As with the power source, the following are the categories.

  1. Electric trailer dollies. Tow dollies can be operated electrically. They are also called AC powered trailer dollies. It requires the use of a long electrical cord attached to the dolly and connected to the receptacle of the truck's electrical box.
  2. Battery-powered trailer dollies are those that will function with the use of batteries that will require you to recharge them as often as needed.
  3. Gas-powered trailer dollies. These are tow dollies that require the use of gas and oil; these are ideal for tow dollies used in residential areas.
  4. As with for what purpose the dolly is for, there are plenty of types to choose from.
    1. Boat trailer dolly. This is for the pulling of a boat by a larger vehicle for transport to marinas or back to its storage space.
    2. Car trailer dolly. This is used for the transport of cars when moving to a new house, going to camping trips, or simply to carry wrecked cars in accidents.
    3. Trailer truck dolly. This dolly is especially used by companies that transport goods through a trailer truck. The truck may have an additional trailer behind it with additional goods supported by a dolly.
    4. Recreational vehicle trailer dolly. When a recreational vehicle cannot carry enough loads, it can attach an additional trailer behind it with a dolly to carry it and be pulled behind.
