Amsterdam and choosing the best bike locks

If you live in Holland or if you have ever visited the Netherlands, you will be amazed to see how many bikes there are in that country. For example, in Amsterdam city center, there are literally hundreds of bikes of different shapes and sizes. The most famous of those bikes are the so called "OMA fiets". That means "Grandmother's bike" when translated. Why are they called grandmother's bike? You will have to ask a Dutch national to explain that. It has often been said in the Netherlands that the bike locks are more expensive that the bikes. That basically means that your bike lock will cost you more than the actual bike. Well, the problem in most major cities in the Netherlands is that bikes are stolen everyday and you will soon learn to invest in a decent bike lock.
