There are many things that a computer owner can do to upkeep their computer and keep it running as smoothly as possible. Physically cleaning the computer and upgrading its hardware is a great way to achieve this. However, doing this physical computer maintenance will only keep your computer running flawlessly if you perform it in concert with computer maintenance software. But choosing the right kinds of software can be a confusing task. It seems as though there are software for any and every problem that your computer may encounter. So how do you choose the right ones? I’ll explain that to you in a moment, but I want to get these couple of points across first.

The more computer maintenance software that you download to your computer, the more disk space you will be using up, which in turn, will slow down your pc. So make sure that you absolutely need the software before you go and download it. Secondly, make sure that you download your software from a reliable website, especially if its free. You don’t want any special surprises coming with the software (malware/spyware). Ok, now lets go over a couple of popular computer maintenance software programs, and why you should use them.

Virus Software:

Virus software, such as Norton Antivirus and McAfee Virusscan, are always great software to have. Limited versions of this software usually come built-in to new computers, and if you like them you have the option of purchasing the fully licensed software. I highly recommend using one of these programs to keep your computer going strong. These computer maintenance software programs are like a brick wall that keep viruses out as well as keep your valuable information in.

Software that will keep your computer running fast:

Registry cleaner software such as Registry Mechanic, are very popular computer maintenance software programs that keep Windows running without a hitch. For those of you who don’t know what a Windows Registry is, it is simply a database that saves your systems software, hardware, and individual user settings. Sometimes these settings get lost or changed for no reason, which can cause your computer to crash or freeze. Using this software continuously scans your operating system for these errors and fixes them, preventing any future crashes, and keeping your computer running lightning fast.

There is much more computer maintenance software out there, most of which isn’t worth your time or money. These few programs that I have listed above are by far the most popular and important software programs out there today. They are like your computers food and water, necessities that are vital to your computers health. They are well worth the money, and they will keep your pc running without too many problems in the future.
