Chris Powell's Weight Loss book and program shows you how to lose 10, 30, 50 or more pounds by kick-starting your metabolism. Many of us have seen Chris Powell, the very physically fit fitness trainer on the popular ABC program"Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition." Instead of avoiding carbs, Chris Powell shows you how to use them correctly to make the body a weight losing powerhouse. In his book, Chris gives you many recipes that puts his weight loss principles into action.  If you have ever seen an episode of the weighloss edition of "Extreme Makeover," then you can see that he knows what he's talking about.

Metabolism plays a very big part in the way you lose weight and maintain weight loss.  Chris Powell has made several appearances on television shows like Dr. Oz as well as several women's magazines to talk about his "Extreme" weightloss cures.  In most of these appearances and in his book, metabolism is addressed significantly.

According to Doctoroz.com, there are three major rules to improving your metabolism:

Boosting metabolism every 3 hours: Always eat protein, as much vegetables as you want and complex carbs or fat: more frequent meals keeps your metabolism active and working. Chris' book teaches you how to alternate between high carb days and low carb days.

Boosting your Thyroid function: When your Thyroid is working properly, then your metabolism will also function properly.  So another rule to boosting your metabolism, is, according to Doctoroz.com is to "eat whole grains, root vegetables and beans. Doctoroz.com also states that cutting out carbohydrates from your diet completely will reduce your thyroid function by 50 percent. So eat those fruit and vegetables!

Building muscle:  If you have more muscle, the body uses more calories to satisfy the needs of the muscles.  So the more muscles you have, the more calories you burn.  Start with simple muscle building exercises like squats.

If you have been having trouble losing weight, you may want to take Dr. Oz's metabolism quiz to see if your metabolism may be the problem.  When you get Chris' book, you should sit down with a nutritionist to put together a weight loss program that works for you. Never just get on a diet and use a diet that's made for a general population or not tailored specifically for you.  Even if you lose weight, you don't know if you have been missing key nutrients.  As you have seen above, cutting all carbs out of your system decreases your thyroid function by 50 percent, yet many people lose weight on these types of diets.  Just because you lose weight, doesn't mean that the diet was healthy for YOU.  Use Chris' book or another weight loss book or program to design your own weight loss program.  Always remember to talk to a doctor or nutritionist before you start an weight loss program.
