By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Mary Higgins Clark is the "Queen of Suspense" and since 1995 she has been adding "Christmas Queen of Suspense" to her list of titles. That is the year that she began releasing shorter mystery novels that take place during the Christmas Holiday season. Her first two holiday novels were such a success that her novelist daughter, Carol Higgins Clark, soon began collaborating with her to write them. Mary Higgins Clark has a total of seven Christmas books to her name, five of those were written in collaboration with Carol Higgins Clark. These books really are among the best Christmas books published and though they are classified as suspense novels, readers who enjoy reading heart warming tales that revolve around the spirit of Christmas will enjoy them as well.

  • Silent Night - Mary Higgins Clark (1995)

This is the first Christmas book written by Mary Higgins Clark and she shows readers why she is the Queen of Suspense. The book opens on Christmas Eve as we are introduced to a mother and her two sons who are touring holiday spots around New York City. It is later that we find out they are there because the woman's husband has suddenly been diagnosed with Leukemia and has had emergency surgery. As they listen to a street performer playing Christmas carols, the woman drops her wallet and it is picked up by a stranger. Unnoticed, the woman's youngest son slips away and follows the stranger in an attempt to retrieve the wallet. The son disappears and through an unfortunate series of events ends up on the run with an escaped convict. The mother and police work frantically in this fast paced novel to find the boy in time for Christmas.

  • All Through the Night - Mary Higgins Clark (1998)

The second Christmas novel by Mary Higgins Clark lives up to her first. In this story, a young mother who has just given birth abandons her baby on the steps of a church hoping that it will be taken in and cared for. Unfortunately, a criminal is at the same time stealing a valuable, cherished artifact from the church. As the thief makes a getaway, he grabs the stroller in an attempt to blend in with the Christmas shopping crowd. Flash forward seven years and we see that Alvirah and Willy Meehan have somehow gotten themselves involved in the case and they won't rest until they find out exactly what happened that night.
