Because its winter you most likely will be inside but relay races can still be lots of fun without running. It is the excitement of trying to win! There are two easy ones that are fun and will challenge them because they get excited.

The first is the candy cane relay. For two teams you will need eight candy canes plus some for back up as some will get broken. The first person on each team has four canes, one between each finger. They then pass them to the next person in line by taking them between their fingers. Only the candy cane hand of each child can be used. It is really much harder than it sounds.

For the second Christmas party relay game you will need a box of straws and a couple of very light plastic (unbreakable) ornaments. The children each hold a straw in their mouths. The goal is to pass the ornament from one child to the next using only the straw. This game really lends it's self to all sorts of variations so you can make up rules about how the first child get it on the straw and what the last child does with it as well as what happens if it is dropped.

Other games can be made into Christmas games How about "Santa Says" (like Simon Says)? Or you could do a Christmas box like a Kim box. A box is filled with Christmas items, the children see what is in the box, then it is taken away and an item removed. The child who guesses what is gone wins. You can try to wear them out with "Frosty Freeze." They bounce around and dance to Christmas music till the music stops then they freeze, then reanimate when the music starts back up.
