What is the difference between classic custom car insurance and normal classic car insurance? The difference is that with classic custom car insurance you are paying a premium because your classic car has been modified. The reason why you will be paying a premium for this type of insurance is because it will cost the insurance company a lot more money to replace any parts that are not original. In order to attach modified car parts to a car you may have to modify some of the original fixtures and fittings to accommodate the new coupling.

One of the problems with classic cars is that although they have a build quality which is no longer present in modern-day vehicles there are still qualities which are lacking. These problems can be solved by installing either modern-day car parts by modifying the original car to accept them or by having special parts customized for your car so that they fit to the original mounting brackets etc. Many customize parts are fitted to classic cars in order to increase engine power substantially. There is also the addition of customized stereos, customized seats, customized interiors, customized lighting, the list is endless. But all these customized parts and modified parts come with a price tag and therein lies the problem with your classic custom car insurance.

You need to be aware of the classic custom car insurance cost before you customize your car to make sure that you are not leaping into something which is beyond your pocket. You also need to be aware of the price of this type of insurance before you attempt to buy a modified classic car. Make sure that you know exactly how many modifications have been made, and get a list of exactly which customized items have been added and their estimated replacement cost before you buy a classic custom car. Then you can approach the insurance company for a classic custom car insurance quotation. Once you have this you can make the decision about if you should purchase the car and not.

If we look at it from the perspective of the insurance company it might make for a clearer picture. Not only are the insurance company going to have to ensure a classic vehicle that has been fully restored, they will also be facing into replacing any customize parts and replacing them back to the standard of your customization. For instance let's say that you have replaced the original engine for a fully customized turbocharged beast. Most of the time the engine replacement will not fit straight into the original engine bay because there will be differences in the dimensions. You will have to modify the size of the engine bay in order to accommodate your new engine and you will have to modify all the engine mountings, driveshaft positioning, exhaust positioning, etc. This may be a labor of love to you that you have carried out over a period of time. But if you have an accident and you write off your car the insurance company will have to rebuild that car to how it was when you took out your insurance policy. That is going to cost a lot of money. This is why you must try and find the cheapest classic custom car insurance. You can look for classic car insurance online. And please make sure you read all the small print, this could make sure that if you have an accident you are covered. Many classic custom car insurance policies have restrictions in the fine print.
