As popular as the riding lawn mowers are starting to be it is not unusual that the garages providing maintenance services are getting a lot of traffic. Some basic things you can do yourself but when it comes to fixing the electric parts or the engine you should always leave it to the professionals.

Cleaning the blades of the mower is one of the easy and simple things you can do yourself. All you need are the following tools to make it easy and simple. Two pieces of wood that you can drive the mower on to make it easier to get under it. If you own a mower lift I suggest you use that since it will be a lot safer and easier. Some honda riding mowers have these lifts built in and they will lift the front end of the mower so that you can get under it. A large brush that is has the brushes made of steel is necessary to get all the grass off the blades.

Lift your mower or drive it on the planks to get it higher. Make sure that the engine is turned off and also hit the emergency off button to make sure that it will not turn off while you are touching the blades. Turn on the hand brake and you are ready to start the cleaning.

Use the steel brush to get every piece of grass off the blades and everywhere around the protecting case around the blades. You should consider doing this outside preferably on the lawn to make the tidying of the work area a lot simpler. When you do it on your lawn you don't need to worry about cleaning up.
