There are many different types of diets that are available these days. Everybody, unfortunately, is looking for the Magic Pill ... a means of losing weight and looking great without actually doing anything, without putting any effort. The truth is that every diet takes effort. It is a lot harder to put the effort in to lose the weight and then it was free to put the weight on in the first place. Some see it as a quick fix for losing weight, more so with the various celebrities that have come out promoting its success in making them lose weight in just a few short days. However, a lemon detox diet is not meant as a weight loss program but for purging the body of toxins. People who have become disillusioned with the promises of being able to quickly lose weight have resorted to other forms of the same diet in the hopes of finding more success.
The original Master Cleanse Diet was promoted in the 1940s by the late naturopath Stanley Burroughs. His program consisted of a strict daily regimen of drinking a lemon mixture which included water, organic lemons, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. This particular diet has become popular over the years that revisions of the same program were published decades later. The diet is simple to do but difficult to follow as the individual is required not to eat or drink anything else besides the lemon concoction, water and a laxative herbal tea during the evenings. It has been known to be compared more as a fast rather than an actual diet program.
Although individuals are instructed to follow the diet program without any exceptions, success rates vary immensely. Some individuals have reported to losing as much as 18 pounds over two weeks while others have only lost one pound over a week. In addition, as much of the weight that does get lost is water, most of it will be regained within days or weeks after being off the diet. As the diet involves drinking lemonade, some have complained that it leaves them weak to do anything else. It also causes the body to decrease its metabolism levels that the body becomes more efficient in storing fat after being off the diet, making the person add more weight at a quicker pace.
One alternative that has been proposed is by taking lemon pills. Instead of adhering to a strict juice diet, the individual is allowed to eat solid foods. In addition to drinking juice, the person is advised to follow a meal plan and exercise. This alternative cleanser lemonade diet plan appears more doable for some as the alternative suggests following the program only once every two months or so. For numerous specialists, this is safer as it removes the toxins from the body without depriving the system from a number of nutrients it needs to survive.
