Clear Counters With Wall Mounted Kitchen Faucets
Generally there are two types of mounts for your kitchen faucets. The most common kind, particularly when installing the faucets into an existing kitchen, is the counter mounted faucet. The other kind is the wall mounted faucet and this kind comes with a few added benefits, but it also comes with a few added difficulties too.
Wall mounted kitchen faucets allow you to make greater use of the available counter space in the kitchen by freeing up the counter that would otherwise have been taken up with the faucet knobs. They allow you to make better use of the space available which can be very handy if space is at a premium. They also make it a little easier to keep the counter space clean because you don't have to wipes around the knobs.
Where wall mounted kitchen faucets can be a little difficulty is in the installation in an existing kitchen. The plumbing that is required to run to the wall mounting must be set into the walls and this will require extra work for the plumber. Kitchen walls are usually surfaced with tiles, splashbacks and other specialist treatments, not to mention the cabinets and electrical that are already running in the cavity. The installation is not necessarily going to be impossible but there is an element of difficulty involved and that usually means increased installation costs.
There are a number of different types of wall mounted faucets that are available that will give you a range of choice from which you should be able to choose something to suit your décor. The most popular type of wall mounted faucet is the dual handled faucet. The handles themselves may be cross handled, levers (either vertical or horizontal mounts) or mixer taps.
Your choice of finishes will be similar to the standard bench mounted faucets with brass, satin silk nickel, stainless steel and bronze all equally able to give you a sophisticated look. You may go for a traditional style or a more modern appearance and you may also have the choice of functional over decorative.
When buying your wall mounted faucet you may notice that the spouts are generally longer than the counter mounted ones. This is so the water will more easily reach the basin without splashing onto the bench tops, or on the edge of the sink. You should use the curving lines of these spouts to add to the decorative nature of the faucets and repeat the arching lines elsewhere in the kitchen.
In fact, the wall mounted kitchen faucet range is going to add aesthetic appeal to the kitchen and you will be able to get that added appeal while also freeing up counter space into the bargain.
