Clint Eastwood's 5 Best Movies

Clint Eastwood starred in over 60 movies.  His most famous role is perhaps the gunfighter with no name in such westerns as “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” and “Pale Rider”.  His other famous role is that of Inspector Harry Callahan in the “Dirty Harry” series.  Below is a list of his five best movies.

5:  “Pale Rider” (1985).  One of Eastwood’s man with no name westerns, Eastwood stars as a preacher who enters a small mining community.  This small group is harassed by the local bad guy, intent on stealing their claims and potential gold.  Eastwood changes from a preacher to gunfighter and battles off the local gang and the hired gunmen.

4:  “Every Which Way but Loose” (1978).  Not the typical Eastwood movie, he stars as a truck driver and amateur fighter.  He makes a living fighting in boxing events.  Along the way, he is involved in bar fights, battles the local motorcycle gang and falls in love.  The movie is stolen by his co-star, an orangutan named Clyde.  This film is one of Eastwood’s few comedic roles.

3:  “Gran Torino” (2008).  Eastwood stars as a retired blue collar worker who has just lost his wife.  He lives alone in a poor Detroit neighborhood.  He befriends an oriental family who lives in his neighborhood.   He must protect them from a local street gang intent on recruiting a young neighbor boy.

2:  “Outlaw Josey Wales” (1976).  Eastwood stars as Josey Wales, a farmer who just saw his family murdered by renegades.  He joins a group of guerillas and fights for the South during the American Civil War.  After the war, all he wants is to be left alone.  Unfortunately, he is pursued by bounty hunters and he cannot live in peace until they kill him.

1: “The Unforgiven” (1992).  Eastwood’s final and best western, he stars as Will Munny, a retired gunfighter.   He goes on one last killing in order to gather enough money to take his family and settler elsewhere.  Munny, along with his two partners, travel to a small town where they must kill two cowboys.

Other of Eastwood’s excellent movies include “In the Line of Fire”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly”, “Dirty Harry” and “Kelly’s Heroes”.  Eastwood began his acting  career on the classic western series, “Rawhide”, where he played cowboy Rowdy Yates on a cattle drive.  Clint Eastwood, along with John Wayne are perhaps the best known western actors in cinema history.
