Coffee Grinders - Are They Worth The Cash?

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 1 | |

Coffee is the world's favorite drink and its becoming very popular these days for those of us with a passion for coffee to want to recreate the coffee experience in our own homes. For a long time we were willing to put up with substandard coffee at home, or maybe we just chose to drink tea at home instead.

These days we're not willing to settle for anything but the best when it comes to the coffee we drink. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that we have become so used to drinking great coffee when out at the local coffee shop.

Whatever the reason, we have come to the realization that it is only right that we have a good coffee machine in our house. Naturally we also have to pick up a high quality coffee grinder at the same time if we are to achieve the optimum taste of freshly ground coffee we have become used to.

How Do We Pick The Right Coffee Grinder?

Any online or bricks and mortar coffee machine retailer will have an overwhelming range of coffee grinders at varying price points so its important that we know what we are looking for when we undertake a coffee grinder shopping trip. Without doing any research we'll have know idea about the specifications needed and may be tempted to purchase something that isn't up to the challenge.

If you have gone to the trouble of picking a top of the range espresso machine then you will need a coffee grinder capable of producing finely ground beans to achieve the flavor you are searching for. Cheaper grinders often use blades to "chop up" the coffee beans resulting in an inconsistent grind which is totally unacceptable for an espresso machine.

It is worth it to spend as much money as you can afford to get a high quality burr coffee grinder. A burr grinder uses two metal revolving disks which gently grind the beans to the desired fineness without overheating the oils contained in the beans.

Its true that a quality conical burr grinder is expensive and may seem like an over extravagant luxury but in the long run it will work out to be a great investment which will give you many years service and the best coffee imaginable.
