The Coleman Red Canyon measures 17x10 feet so it is more than adequate for a weekend of camping with your family. The Coleman Red Canyon will hold up to 8 campers. The size and design of this tent make it one of the best large family tents available at a reasonable cost.
The Coleman Red Canyon is very inexpensive for what you get. If you need a large tend without paying a large price then you definitely need to consider the Coleman Red Canyon.
The tent has removable privacy walls so you can choose to have the tent into 3 different rooms, 2 different rooms, or 1 very large room like a traditional tent. This is great for when you need some privacy from your kids or to allow people too great dresses in privacy while the other people inside the tent are not forced to leave while the other person is changing their clothes.
The Coleman Red Canyon is easy to set-up and is designed for bad weather. You definitely do not want to be using this tent for camping at the base of Mount Everest, but it does work great for regular camping adventures. It may rain or the wind may pick up and you will be locked up comfortably inside the Coleman Red Canyon tent. The first time you set-up the tent it may take you ½ hour or so but once you learn how it is done then you will be able to be comfortable and quickly set-up this tent in much less time, even if you are setting it up by yourself.
The Coleman Red Canyon is great for mild to moderate winds, but if things get too windy then you will find that the supporting poles will flex and then snap, causing your tent to fall flat. If winds do not get above a 30 mph or higher of sustained winds then you should be just right.
The one thing that truly sucks about this tent, and it happens with most brands of tents, is repacking your tent up. It can be very easy to take the tent down but trying to fit it into the bag the way it was when you bought it can take much longer then even setting up the tent. You can choose to try and duplicate what Coleman did or you can save a lot of time and effort by buying a huge stuff sack to store your tent in. One thing I love to use for storing tents in is an old Sea Bag. These military issue sea bags make it very easy and convenient to pack your tent up.
