Colors that Complement Neon Blue

By | Jul 16, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

There are many different ways to add a little pop to a room, and using neon colors in your design is one of them. They add a certain vibrancy to the look of a room. Neon colors are particularly appropriate in a game room or media room, which is designed with a fun edginess. However, it takes more than one color to decorate a room; so it's important to think about other colors that will coordinate with the neon hue that you have in mind. Take neon blue for example: It is one of the more popular neon choices, and there are some colors that you can pair with it as vivacious complements.

Basic Black

Basic black goes with any color, and it is one of the most dramatic colors for neon blue. When neon blue is set beside black, the black tends to recede, and the neon blue tends to come towards you, so it literally pops off of the black. In a practical application, you may want to dress a black couch with neon blue throw pillows, and if you can find a printed fabric that uses the two colors together, this would also make a striking addition to the couch. If you want to use the colors more dramatically, then you may want to hang black metal tree wall art on a bright, neon wall.

Crisp White

Another color that goes with virtually everything is white, and when you pair it with neon blue you can create a cool color palette in a room. By starting with a backdrop of stark white, you can incorporate neon blue as a vibrant accent color throughout the room. For example, add a neon blue area rug, and then place a white coffee table on it. Or, a white couch looks amazing with neon blue throw pillows.

Shiny Silver

Another color that complements neon blue spectacularly is silver, and the shinier it is, the better. Decorating with shiny surfaces adds a modern vibe to any room, and using silver with neon blue can create a sleek and lovely contemporary room design. Add a crisp cool metallic backdrop with silver wallpaper: It is an impressive addition to a room that uses neon blue liberally in its design. Or add shimmer to the walls with tropical wall decorations in neon blue and silver.

More Neon

Another way to blend neon into a room is to surround it with other neon colors. A word of caution though, as you add more neon to the room it will become increasingly vibrant, so make sure that you do not overdo it. You may want to create a quiet backdrop for the room in white or light gray and then add neon throw pillows, vases, bowls and candle holders to the mix. By employing neon blue as your primary color and supporting it with additional neon hued accessories, you can create a really lively space.

Adding energy to any room, neon colors are bright and lively. While they may not work particularly well with more traditionally designed rooms, they are a perfect complement for more contemporary rooms, game or media rooms, or rooms designed with a teenager in mind. Use neon when you want something that is a little different, creative, and fun!
