Contact Lenses in Sport

By | Feb 10, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Optimal visual correction can improve sporting performance. This has been found in the latest research into sports.

During exercising there is a reduction in the pressure inside the eye and possibly corneal oedema (cloudy front window of the eye) from a decrease in glucose in the blood and an increase in lactic acid.

According to surveys around 50% of sportsmen and sportswomen have never had an eye examination. That includes top ranked players. 30% of elite athletes compete with visual problems - research from the Olympic Games suggests.

Contact lenses are a sports person's secret weapon. Modern contact lenses can improve your athletic performance immediately. It is confirmed that about 10% of sportsmen and women use sports contact lenses.

Most athletes find that disposable contact lenses are the best option. They can be replaced daily, fortnightly, monthly or three-monthly. They have also many advantages:
- more comfort;
-less maintenance;
-freedom from the protein deposits that can cause irritation and decrease vision;
The end result is that you see better and therefore you give yourself a greater chance of winning!2
