Converting A PDF File To Word On A Mac Computer

Apple's Built-In Automator

Sometimes you may need to extract text files from a PDF document to convert into a word format, but don't have the full version of Abode's Acrobat Program installed on your Mac computer. No worries you can use Apple's Built-In Automator scripting  software to easily Drag and drop formatted text from almost any PDF File. This article will show you how to use Apple's Automated Application software to convert PDF to Word on a Mac Computer.

Opening Application


In the open finder window on your Mac Computer choose applications, then in the window's side bar you need to scroll down to the Automator application to launch the software. You should see custom in the upper left-corner of the Automator, click this. You will then need to click choose in the lower-right corner to begin constructing your PDF To Text application.


Constructing your File

In the Automator window you will see in the first column "PDFs" click this under Actions, it will prompt you to double click "extract PDF To Text" in the second column. This will open a new dialogue box to the right of the columns, click "Rich Text" now you make any changes to your file if you wish to do so before the new file is saved. Now click File in the Mac Menu Bar and proceed to drag the cursor to "save As" in your file menu, once you release the mouse a dialogue box will appear that will say "save as". Now click the file format icon and choose "Application" and then enter a name for your new PDF To Word File. Use a name that you will easily remember in the future, then simply click save to store and save your application and close Automator.


Opening your File


To open your new file in word format or any other word processing application or software simply click and select the rich text file that you created using PDF To Text, via the Automator software that was used. And drag and drop the selected file onto your word application icon then simply release the mouse and the Text file will now be in PDF Format . You also have  Word To PDF Software  avalible with this application for easy editing. Make sure all the Text is converted exactly how it was in PDF format, if not you may need to go through the above steps again. If the problem still persists then see Apple's main site to download a fresh copy of Automator.
