Investing in Copper can be very tricky even though the price of Copper has skyrocketed ,that is because of the electronics and the construction involved in third world countries through out Africa and in some parts of China. Even though the price of Copper skyrocketing, so are the mining capabilities and the production. Don't be tricked into investing in Copper unless you look at the reserves where the mines are.
If you're looking for big returns, especially on Copper then futures that are leveraged are usually a better bet. If you're looking to invest in Copper mines then a portfolio of stocks of Copper companies is a better choice. Don't confuse investing with Copper has investing in Copper mines.
The track record of Copper ETFs has not been the best. The price has been volatile and their returns have not been good unless been held from the beginning the recession. Most investors that want to play around with Copper choose instead futures such as trading through Etoro.com.
One of the problems with Copper is that people are a bit paranoid that China will begin manipulating the price is as much of it comes from that country. Although these are just speculations, it is possible that the communist government involved in the mining sector could decide that it would not be in the government's benefits to release the Copper. There have already been strange accusations of government officials getting involved with mines to slow down the production to drive up the price.
Overall investing in the actual Copper commodity is very technical and is more the short term/intraday type of trade.
Another problem with investing in just Copper is that it does not have the same benefits as silver, lithium or steel. Copper is used for electrical wires and such. Another problem investing in just Copper is that there are scientific predictions and industry standards that may move away from Copper into nanotechnology that utilize silicon as the next type of electrical wiring. Although nanotechnology seems far off into the future there are many companies like 'General Electric' and other companies based in China that believe nanotechnology wires will become the future of transporting electricity.
There is not much promotion or constant analysis of Copper because traders and financial advisers understand that technically trading Copper is usually the best way to make money. If you're really interested in investing in the Copper ETF really make sure to understand market psychology and the current situation in Chinese Copper mines.
Eventually there may be a situation when the mindshare of investors begin to eventually give credit to this not well known metal. Always make sure to have a discount broker before you start investing in exchange traded funds, you don't want to lose a large part of your investing to comissions.
