There are two types of copper kitchen sinks that you can choose from.

Farmhouse or Apron Kitchen Sink

This is the traditional style sink. It consists of a complete tub that is set onto your kitchen units. You get to see a lot more of the copper as the whole front is exposed and on display.

Undermount Copper Kitchen Sink

This type of sink is similar to the way that the majority of sinks are fitted in kitchens. The shape is outlined on a counter top, which is then cut out. The sink is then lowered into the space and fixed with the appropriate adhesive. These copper sinks are constructed with an outer lip so that they sit flush with the counter top.

How To Measure The Quality of Your Copper Kitchen Sink

If you know what style you prefer you need to think about the thickness of the metal. This will determine the overall quality of your sink. The measurement is called the gauge and the lower the number the thicker the metal is. That means that it is better quality and therefore will cost a lot more money. For a kitchen sink, you should be looking at a gauge ranging from 18 to 14. If the gauge is too high then your sink will be very thin. It may look attractive but it will end up with a tinny sound when anything comes into contact with it. This will make it seem less robust and less solid.
