Copper Kitchen Sinks For Modern Or Traditional Kitchen Design

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Copper kitchen sinks are absolutely unique and have a style and quality that can enhance and uplift the whole look and feel of your kitchen. Copper is a very old material which ages naturally over time and gains an individual appearance depending on its surroundings. You will find that this type of sink will need a lot more care and attention than the stainless steel varieties but it will be well worth it in the end because of the quality of the finish.

If you are looking to add something different to your kitchen design you have a choice of the type of sink to opt for. The two types of copper kitchen sinks that are available are

  • The Farmhouse or apron style copper sink
  • The undermount copper sink

The Farmhouse or Apron Style Copper Sink

If your kitchen design is going to be reminiscent of a real old fashioned traditional country style cooking room, then you might like to consider purchasing a farmhouse copper sink. This sink allows more of the beautiful copper metal to be exposed. The style of the sink is like a big basin, which sits on top of your kitchen base unit.

The Undermount Sink

This is the method that is used to put in most kitchen sinks. The dimensions of the sink are noted and the measurements are outlined on your chosen counter top. This is then cut out of the top and the sink is placed into the vacant hole. In order for the sink to sit flush with the surface, the sink is made with an outer rim or lip. This is sealed to the counter surface with special kitchen adhesive to not only ensure that the sink does not move, but to make the link waterproof.

How Rustic Should Your Copper Sink Be?

There are two basic styles of copper sink that you can choose. If you want to go for the truly rustic feel, a hammered copper sink might be just the thing for you. This type of sink is individually made by skilled craftsmen. They take the shape and literally hammer the metal into the required form. This will ensure that the sink you purchase will be completely unique.

The alternative is to go for the smooth surface look. The quality will be dependent on the source of the copper and the thickness of the metal used to make the sink.

Other things to consider when buying a copper kitchen sink for your home is the price and where to source a sink. Whatever you decide to choose, do a quick search on the internet so that you can compare and contrast prices. Get as much information as you can so that you spend wisely and end up with the perfect copper kitchen sink. These sinks work not only for traditional kitchens but also modern ones too.
