If you have ever bought cork board tiles in the past, you have probably found out that what you received was not nearly what you had in mind when you were purchasing. This happens to every consumer that has to purchase cork board tiles. If you need a new set, there are a few tips that you should take into consideration to help you avoid landing in the same situation again. Tip #1 Use Your Own Wall Adhesive The sticky tape that is included with most cork board tile packs may look like it is sturdy, but when you finally get to attach it to the wall, you're going to find out that it doesn't have what it takes to hold the tiles on for any length of time. To avoid this, consider purchasing your own wall adhesive or glue that will hold much stronger than the double sided sticky tape. Tip #2 Consider Purchasing Shorter Thumb Tacks Long thumb tacks present a problem, wherein you are going to be creating thousands of holes in the wall just behind the cork board tiles while using them. Instead of this, you may want to use short stud thumb tacks. This is especially true if you are planning on removing the tiles at some point down the road. Tip #3 Prepare The Surface Of The Wall Ahead Of Time In order to get the best grip on your adhesive to the wall, you will want to prepare the wall before you start gluing them down. You want to remove any dirt and oil that has built up over the years, which could effect how strong of a seal the adhesive makes. Tip #4 Avoid Purchasing Low Quality Cork Boards The biggest tip that you need to think about when purchasing cork board tiles is that you simply want to avoid purchasing low cost, typically low quality cork board tiles. These types of cork tiles are going to deteriorate rapidly, often breaking off in large chunks.
