A mission statement is a general guide to living that can be referred to when difficult decisions need to be made.
It will help conclude the many and varied decisions of a couple or group and also be a great help for the individual. Procrastination is much less likely to be an issue as the mission statement should be displayed discreetly so as to prompt action.
Creating a mission statement is easy, simply write down a list of beliefs and intentions, then arrange them in order of priority. However, creating the basis of a mission statement will require a lot of interesting negotiations for a couple, but it will be of terrific value for future decisions. The act of signing formalises the statement and gives it the power it deserves. The statement should then be displayed in a private place, where only you will see it. Bear in mind that the statement is a dynamic guide and can be modified at any time to suit changing circumstances.
Here is an example of a personal mission statement for an individual.
I shall always put my health and safety first.
I will walk for 30 minutes every day.
I will visit family once a month.
I will take responsibility for my actions and I will not blame others.
I will stay within my budget.
I shall only drink on weekends and not to excess.
I shall only eat takeaway once a week.
I shall treat others with respect.
I will build healthy relationships with others.
I will let my intuition guide me whenever possible.
