5 steps to reach 2 billion people

The internet has been an exponentially growing medium, adding new users to it's never ending list day-by-day. In 2010 the number of users were:

- 825 million in Asia
- 475 million in Europe
- 266 in North America
- 204 million in Latin America/Caribbean
- 111 million in Africa
- 63 million in the Middle East
- 21 million in Australia/Oceania

These numbers add up to about 2 billion, which expands at a yearly rate of 14 percent. More then 250 million different websites can be visited. The internet is without question the largest channel, through which information can be exchanged. Parallel to that, it is also the quickest form of communication: sending an email or finding a website takes only a few seconds.

Creating a Website

These numbers prove how big the internet is and how it can help anyone to spread information throughout the world. Having a website is a very useful step in speeding up communication with people from around the globe and/or popularizing one along with their business. A website can be made for many different reasons, depending on what the needs are. After deciding the goal, it requires a few steps to actually create.

1. The first step is buying and registering a domain name. This means, that  the name of the website has to be made up, through a domain registrar you can check to see if that name is still free, if yes, what price you can purchase it for.

2.The next step is setting up a web host account. This means that for a fee, one can have a website hosted. When choosing a host it is important not to pick one that is very cheap, because this can result in a  slow website, having down-times or not loading properly when visited.
Another option at this point is setting up a server to host your website, the backfire of this can be security issues, such as virus' or spyware attacks.

3. After buying a domain name and a host account, the domain has to be pointed to the web host. What this means is that when someone would like to visit the website, he or she will receive the uploaded information from the host, after typing in the URL.

4. Designing the website. A web designer can be hired to create the  graphics and arrangement of the website. If you want to save money there are free programs which help you with this step, through them photos, text, videos can be uploaded.

5. Configure your website. This can be done after completing the design. After this step it will be accessible to anyone via internet.

It is a huge advantage, to have accessible information online and a website is the most popular form of providing it. A few simple steps can help you and your business.
