Crock Pot Sizes

By Edited Oct 6, 2015 0 0

You are in the market for a crockpot, but which crockpot size is right for you?
They make crockpots in many different sizes but there are a couple standard crockpot sizes which I have put together for you.  Most recipes are designed to use a specific size crockpot. You can always use a different size but you might have to adjust the recipe to account for the crockpot size you have. Remember that you will want to make sure your crockpot is at least 2/3 full so that the food will cook properly and not burn. If you have a big crockpot and the recipe is for a small one, you will need to increase the recipe, or the opposite. This is something to consider when figuring out what crockpot  size is right for your family. You don't want to constantly be making enough food to feed a small army if you are just cooking for two.
Cooking with a crockpot is a great way to save money on groceries, because you can make great meals with cheaper cuts of meat. You might want to check out all the ways your crockpot can help you save money
Crockpots are also called slow cookers.

Crockpot Sizes

4 quart crockpot size

  • 4 Quart Crockpot-

A 4 Quart Crockpot will make enough food to feed 4-5 people. This size is perfect for a couple or a small family.

    6 quart crockpot size

6 Quart Crockpot-

The 6 Quart Crockpot is the most popular size crock.  Most recipes are designed using this size. A 6 Quart Crockpot will make enough food to feed 6-7 people. Most of the time when you are cooking in your crockpot you will want to have guests over, or make enough for leftovers, so this size is great for a family of 4 or 5.

7 quart crockpot size
  • 7 Quart Crockpot-

The 7 Quart Crockpot will make enough food for 9 people. This size is great for cooking for cookouts, or for bringing food to church events or other gatherings.

    little dipper crockpot size
  • 16 oz Crockpot-

The 16 oz Crockpot brand slowcooker is called the "Little Dipper". The 16 oz crockpot is ideal for making dips for parties. You could also use it to make breakfast, to make lunch for the kids, or to make baby food.

They make crockpots in pretty much every size from 3 Qt to 7 Qt that you can think of, plus the small Little Dipper-like sizes, but the 4 Quart, 6 Quart, 7 Quart and 16 oz sizes are the most common.
